Finally come the end of the 30 Day Cosplay Challenge for New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star. It's been a super long challenge with lots of great outfits. So let's take a look at the final cosplay for the challenge which is BAAM from MOMOLAND! I'm still super into this song and often repeat it straight away after listening to it. A few months ago, I reviewed the mini album Fun To The World which contains the track as the title track and you can check out that review here if you would like to see all the wonderful photobook images from it. The group has a Japanese version of the song coming out in November so I'm super excited for that!
For the BAAM cosplay, I went with Yeonwoo's outfit which is a orange colour dress. I thought this basic looking one was the closest to hers, I almost went with a golf dress in the same colour but the collar wasn't just right on it. The outfit is quite simple and not too over the top for the final outfit, but I wanted to get one MOMOLAND cosplay in during the challenge as they are one of my current favourite groups.
One of my favourite YouTube channels is an adorable cat channel called 크림히어로즈 CreamHeroes. The channel follows the adventures of Ms Butler and her seven cats: Momo, Lulu, DD, TT, Coco, LaLa and ChuChu. My absolute favourite cat of the bunch is Momo (the orange toned cat) due to his hilarious voice overs from Butler and facial expressions. That's why I've picked him for today's cosplay! I do love all the cats, especially DD for his weirdness and ChuChu for being the cutest thing on the planet. But Momo is my ultimate fave so that's why I've picked him for the cosplay.
This outfit marks another appearance of the cat ears from Purple Moon. These things are just perfect for cosplays! I went with an all orange look for Momo as he is of course orange. How do you even cosplay as a real life cat? I mainly tried to pick mature looking pieces to match his personality of Chairman Momo. So I used a few items from Chorale for the bulk of the outfit. The photo shoot took place at my Boutique as I just love my feminine interior still even though it's overdue for a make-over.
Since we had a Fashion Forward themed cosplay already, it's about time for a Styling Star themed cosplay. I choose Alina for my character as she has a unique lively style (if you choose that image for her). I tried to stick to the lively style during my main play through as I like creating lively/psychedelic outfits and matching items together.
Now I decided to give Alina's cosplay a bit of a twist. I dressed up as Alina but in a Rainbow from Fashion Forward inspired outfit. I feel the two have a similar personality sometimes with the random outbursts and I always loved Rainbow's crazy mishmash outfits. The outfit I created was inspired by one of Rainbow's default outfits she wears, but with some new additions. I wanted to add in some of the new Styling Star items and pieces that felt very Alina such as the headphones and hair bow.
Time for another music cosplay! These seem to be the most popular one during this challenge because I do love my K-Pop and J-Pop. This time I'm taking on TWICE's first Japanese single One More Time. I love the sporty style concept the girls have for this single. I decided to go with Chaeyoung's outfit as I had items in mind that kinda look a bit similar. One More Time is my favourite Japanese release from the group and I'm planning on getting the physical version of the single one day as the aesthetics and outfits of the single are just gorgeous.
So here is the final outfit. Turns out this outfit was hard to replicate colour wise in Styling Star. This is the best I could do whilst keeping with the sporty theme. I went with a hot pink colour scheme to match the tones of Chaeyoung's outfit. I thought the star earrings were a cute touch as she has star ones on in the promo material as well. For once, I had a good excuse to use these high pigtail braids hairstyle.
One of my favourite game series on the Nintendo DS/3DS console is the Cooking Mama series. The games are super addicted, fun and occasionally frustrating to a point I'll almost smash my 3DS. The mini-games are inventive but some are quite challenging (curse that rice one!). I've got gold on all the recipes in all the games except Sweet Shop which I don't have yet. I'm waiting till it comes down in price a bit before getting a physical copy. So today we'll try cosplaying the adorable Mama character from the series.
I just loved how this outfit turned out, it's so cute. The yellow pinafore style dress worked perfectly with the long sleeved peter pan collared inner. There was even a hairstyle just like Mama's in the game! For the headscarf, I just used a pink wrap style headband as that was the closest thing to it in the game. Headed to the Cake Shop of course for the photo shoot as it was perfect!
Almost near the end of the cosplay challenge! I've got something a little different for today's cosplay. I thought I'd tried cosplaying one of my favourite instagram accounts, Hobbikats. The instagram follows the lives of four adorable Oriental Shorthair kitties named Teddy, Dexter, Bindi and Stache. My fave of the bunch is Stache due to his unique apperance and mannerisms. I love how chill he is and has the cutest little meow.
The main part of this outfit is the moustache of course! I used one of the thicker ones from Purple Moon to replicate Stache's moustache. The rest of the outfit is a mix of black and white to match his fur markings. I went with a black outer to try to represent the black parts of his body fur.
Last Shopdo update for September as the next one will be on October 1st. How did we get to the end of September already? Unbelievable. Anyway, I have a new interior for this week and this time it's a boho-chic inspired look. More on that later, here are the new outfits! The first one is one of my favourite boho-chic styled outfits. This dress from Soy is my favourite item from the brand and I usually wear this particular coloured one. The second outfit is a eastern inspired coordinate as I thought the style went well with Boho-Chic. For eastern outfits, I love using this bright pink tone as it's so vibrant. I quite like how these new pants from Kanokoi look with the eastern inspired pieces. The final outfit is a Baby-Doll one as they are always popular. I went with a floral theme to match the boho-chic boutique interior. The outfit features lovely blue toned pieces perfect for spring. For the new interior, I decided to go with a boho-chic inspired boutique. The game features some lovely furniture that matches in wood tone and colour so you can create a cohesive look. For the displays, I used quite a few clothing miniatures to give the feel of a boutique. I quite like the brick walls as they look rustic and earthy which ties in with the boho-chic feel. My assistant has a stylish new boho-chic inspired outfit on and I've had a few eastern customers come through already as the new interior seems to attract them.
So many cosplays for the 30 Day Cosplay Challenge have been music themed. Well here is another one! For today, I'll be taking on April's 2nd Single Album MAYDAY. Now this is an album I have been interested in getting for a little while now but haven't got a copy yet. Hoping to pick one up before the end of the year as I just love the aesthetics and design of the album. Plus the songs are amazing as well.
For the outfit, I went with a psychedelic look inspired by the album cover. I tried to copy Yena's pink outfit as I love the colour pink! Just like the Cheshire Cat cosplay, I mainly just searched for pink coloured items and went with the ones closest to her outfit. Got a bit stuck with the shoes as I couldn't find the perfect colour match to the tights I choose. I didn't want the shoes to stick out too match if they were the wrong colour. So I just went with this classy shoes as they matched the magenta quite well even though they aren't the same style.
Another Alice In Wonderland cosplay for today! For today I went with the Cheshire Cat as I thought it was time to take on another challenge. For the character's design, I went with the classic Cheshire look which the character has in the original movie and in Disney Magical World.
For the outfit, I went for a more humanised look for the Cheshire Cat rather than using the whiskers from Purple Moon. I just searched for magenta/hot pink coloured items with no brand in particular. The outfit ended up being a mashup of various styles such as girly, bold, chic and psychedelic. The parachute style pants made another appearance, I quite like this pink pair because of the colour and striped pattern. Overall this outfit looks like a crazy set of items but when you think it's meant to look like the Cheshire Cat, it's not as bad. I thought the animal printed coat made it feel a bit more cat like.
Today's cosplay was a pretty simple one. I was watching Daria one night and decided to add her to the cosplay list. I've been trying to watch through my backlog of DVD's and the Daria set happened to be one of those DVD's. I quite enjoy the earlier episodes of the season and my favourite character would have to be Jane.
I didn't think Daria's outfit would be too difficult to recreate and it totally wasn't. I just searched for plain patterned items in the colours to match her outfit. Finally had the chance to use the grumpy face poses as I rarely use those. I never really go higher than pose 22 for the face when taking photos. I have some favourites that I like to stick to when taking photos for here or my guide blog as they look really nice.
Readers of the blog will know that I'm quite the fan of Korean pop group AFTERSCHOOL. I've posted a few reviews of their Japanese releases before and my recent giant album haul from the group. I did a bit of thinking about which concept from the group I would like to cosplay as they have so many wonderful outfits. I went with their 2nd Japanese album Dress To Kill which I've reviewed the First Press Limited Edition CD+DVD+Photobook version of. For the outfit, I was inspired by my favourite member Lizzy's photocard which I happened to get from the album.
For the photo shoot, I went for a background that copies the one shown on the CD Only version of the album (shown above). This cosplay worked out wonderful as I was able to match the colours and hairstyle perfectly. The dress is the closest match I could get to Lizzy's outfit. The colours are the same, but the pattern is just different. Other girls in the group are wearing an outfit that looks similar to this dress pattern though.
Today's cosplay is another Disney Magical World inspired costume! I will be cosplaying Alice from Alice In Wonderland which I'm sure everyone knows. I recently made a dress based off her classic outfit for a party and that was the main inspiration for this idea. I just love the design of the outfit she has on in the original Disney movie.
For the outfit, I went with a baby-doll inspired look that is a bit more modern that Alice's original dress mainly because I've omitted the apron part. That was mainly due to not finding a close fit to it in the game and I thought this beautiful skirt and inner combination from Marble Lily matched the design of her original dress. Had another chance to use my favourite pair of shoes from Marble Lily once again and the hairbow of course which I also adore.
Whenever people ask me to a useless fact about myself, sometimes I'll say that I've seen every episode of Spongebob Squarepants. I feel that's some sort of achievement in some regard haha. So I thought it would be fun to cosplay Spongebob Squarepants and try to match his outfit to items in the game. Have some silly pictures of Spongebob for reference. I could literally post Spongebob memes and GIF's all day honestly.
The Spongebob outfit turned out being a mixmatch of girly and preppy items. Brooke Bridge was perfect for this mainly because it has inners with ties on them. I hope one day we can finally have ties and such in the game like the ones at the Menswear Shop. Finally found a use for these silly balloon shorts. They are just so bizarre in design and I tend to use them rarely.
