100 Outfit Challenge Day 31: Formal

The theme for today is formal which calls for an outfit from Enid Chen of course! I went with this stunning strapless dress in this aqua tone. The hairstyle I've been using for the challenge perfectly suits this chic look and would be suitable for any formal event. If a new brand or style was ever added into a new game in the series, I'd love to see a formal inspired one featuring gowns, prom style dresses and party shoes. I feel Enid Chen has some nice pieces, but I'd love to see more added into the game that aren't just the chic style.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 30: Gloves

Does anyone else rarely use gloves in Style Boutique or is that just me? I feel I only use them in baby-doll or gothic themed outfits as those styles traditionally feature gloves. Originally I wanted to use some cute gloves from April Bonbon, however I didn't like all the outfits I tried so I settled on this baby-doll/girly look. For once, I don't actually mind how the outer pushes down the fullness of the skirt. This is usually something that annoys me with the Marble Lily outers but it kinda works with this style of skirt.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 29: Purple Moon Mash-Up

The carnival outfit returns once again for today's Purple Moon Mash-Up theme! The idea of this theme is combine a bunch of Purple Moon items into a new outfit that isn't based off their original theme. I used these items from the carnival set a while ago (but in a different colour) for the carnival theme and again today because it's my favourite outfit from the brand. Since the outfit only comes with the inner/top and skirt, I paired it with the socks from the Dress Of Hearts set as they are a similar colour scheme. You could almost combine these socks into the carnival set as they match so well! Added a tiara for that extra touch and some shoes from Marble Lily because I pretty much dislike all the shoes from Purple Moon besides the Pirate and Military-Style boots. The mii shoes are the worst, like when on earth do those look good or usable? Same could be said for that entire mii outfit, it's just so bizarre.

Shopdo Update

Last week's Shopdo Update was themed around bags so I thought I'd do another theme week again and this time it's camisoles! These types of tops were always an item I avoided in previous Style Boutique games, but I've grown to love them in Styling Star. Each outfit in this week's update features a camisole and I've gone with a girly and lively look for this week. First up is this green outfit which is pretty casual and perfect for summer weather. Second is a lively outfit featuring plenty of polka dots and I actually used this bag for the first time in ages. I feel these bags are super cute but I don't make enough outfits that suit them. The last outfit is a girly outfit more suitable for warmer spring weather. These floral print camisoles from Marzipan Sky are gorgeous and look great with three-quarter pants. You can find all three outfits at Shopdo ID 0006271056 in New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star (EUR/AUS Region).

100 Outfit Challenge Day 28: Eastern

How could I not pick a yukata for the eastern day of the 100 Outfit Challenge? I feel these are the quintessential eastern item in the series and you cannot avoid using them for at least a few photo shoots. I went with this beautiful floral print one as it reminds me of the ones I see on Instagram from Japanese stores. The pose is the first picture is what I call the yukata pose as it looks stunning in these outfits. I do however miss the DLC yukata and kimonos items from Fashion Forward and even though most were Japanese exclusive, they had such unique and gorgeous designs to them.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 27: Opposite Day

The theme for today is a bit odd and is the opposite of yesterday's favourite brand. Today is all about opposites so you can pick an outfit of the opposite to your favourite image or items. I went with this bold look as I feel that's something I don't wear often in the game and definitely not these items. These are pieces I wouldn't normally touch especially the cargo pants. I just can't get behind cargo pants, like they went out of fashion in 2001 and need to stay there. I used to have the most ridiculous cargo pants back in the early 2000's. One was blue camo with glitter which made you get stuck to everything and another was this beautiful dusty pink ones but they had the smallest top part to the pants and I don't think I ever wore them. Thank heavens all that is in the past and I never have to think about those glitter camo pants again.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 26: Favourite Brand

If I had to pick one brand in the Style Boutique series that is my all time favourite brand, I'd have to go with Marzipan Sky. I feel this brand is the closest to my style in real life and items that I love the look of. Plus it's one of the largest brands in the game and has a wealth of items to choose from. For this outfit, I tried to pick items from Marzipan Sky that are ones I use often. These items have been favourites of mine for a few games now and I always go back to them when I need a staple outfit.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 25: Purple

For today's Purple themed outfit, I went with a baby-doll look as you doesn't love baby-doll? I wanted to make use of this bolero from Marble Lily as I feel I haven't used one in a while. The purple tone matched perfectly with other items from the brand. Sometimes with baby-doll items, the colours are slightly off which is rather annoying. But these ones were of the same palette so it all worked out. You can check out my other Purple Colour Outfit Collection post here!

CLC チャミスマ Chamisma - Mini Album Review (Type B CD+DVD Edition)

Last week I posted a review of the Type A edition of CLC's Japanese release チャミスマ Chamisma, so this week it's time for another edition of the mini album. Next up for review is Type B of チャミスマ Chamisma and carries on the cheerleader concept from Type A. Let's take a look shall we?

チャミスマ Chamisma Type B CD+DVD

チャミスマ Chamisma is CLC's second Japanese mini album and was released in 2016 through Tower Records Japan. The mini album is available in three editions: Type A CD Only, Type B CD+DVD and Type C CD+DVD. I got my copy of Type B from a private seller on Yahoo Auctions and I was surprised to see a photocard included with it. The original listing didn't have it included so it was great to get that as a little bonus. The mini album was in great condition for a used CD and the price was reasonable compared to buying it new. Type B of チャミスマ Chamisma includes the following contents:

  • CD - 6 Track mini-album
  • DVD - Contains two MV's
  • Lryics booklet
  • Jewel case
  • OBI strip
  • Photocard (7 types to collect)

The cover of Type B has the girls in new cheerleader inspired outfits and this time it's varsity style ones. I want one of these jackets as they look super cute and I adore the little kitty logo. I think out of the three editions, this one is my favourite concept wise and has the best pose on the cover. Plus the back cover looks great as it shows off the back of the varsity jacket with the words Crystal Clear. Your typical production credits are listed on the back as well as the track listing for both the CD and DVD.

Inside the jewel case you will find the CD and DVD which have a similar look to the CD of Type A. I love when Japanese releases have consistency to them as it looks aesthetically pleasing when you group them all together. The gold pom poms are present on the jewel case interior and pastel tones are used for the discs. Got an OBI strip once again so I'm happy because I love them so much.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 24: Uniform

For this theme, I went with a broad uniform idea such as school uniform or work uniform. Not everyone is in the workforce yet or even have a school uniform. I decided to not make the usual preppy image outfit from Brooke Bridge and recreate the outfit I wear for work. My job is in logistics and I don't have a official uniform besides steel cap boots. So I tend to wear pretty casual attire that I don't care about getting dirty because my job is not glamorous at all, like you touch one thing and you're instantly dirty. Accidentally cut my pants up the other day with a knife, so I go through clothes pretty quick. My go-to look for most of the year (apart from summer months) is jeggings, t-shirts and a jacket from Kathmandu to keep warm. Then steel boots of course so I don't destroy my feet and you know WHS laws. It's a pain wearing them because doing 15,000 steps a day in them is annoying but I have these sneaker styles ones which are easier to wear than boot style ones.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 23: Ribbons

Another pattern them for Day 23's outfit and today is devoted to ribbons! I feel this outfit is super glam/flirty style because of the dress design. I'd call this one of those t-shirt dresses because it's super short but not long enough to be categorised as a proper dress. I've never understood these things, like are you meant to wear leggings with them or shorts? Or hope you're short enough that it is a dress on you? Not something I have in my wardrobe because I just can't figure them out but this one is pretty cute in game. Looks kinda like a pyjama top though, maybe it secretly is!

100 Outfit Challenge Day 22: Item You Never Use

I could probably make an entire post of items I never use in Styling Star because there would be a lot of them. Even from my favourite brands! There's just pieces I feel don't look good or I can never work into an outfit. So for today's look, I went with this skirt from AZ-USA that I don't recall ever using. And I even worked out that it matches this bikini top! Hit the pool for the photo shoot of course because where else would be suitable for this cool look?

Shopdo Update

I thought I'd try out a theme for this week's Shopdo Update which is that all the outfits feature the same handbag. When I made the first outfit, I quite liked how the handbag looked so I decided to try out the other colours of the bag with the other two outfits. All the outfits for this week are based around colours starting off with purple. I have to say that this shade of purple is my favourite in the game and I just can't get enough of it. Next up is a feminine outfit inspired by the colour blue. I tried to use some items I haven't used much so that's how I came to this skirt. I've never used them much which I think it because of the pattern isn't really my taste. The last outfit is a girly outfit in pink tones because I love pink! You can find all three outfits at Shopdo ID 0006271056 in New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star (EUR/AUS Region).

100 Outfit Challenge Day 21: Psychedelic

After making all these outfits posts and challenges for Styling Star, I've become quite a fan of the psychedelic style. It was never something I used often in previous games but I felt the style and the Retrobeat brand has really improved in Styling Star. I owe most of it to the amazing new items that were added to the brand such as this skirt which I'm obsessed with. It's my go-to item which I'm sure readers have seen multiple times on Shopdo updates over the last year. It makes an appearance once again for my psychedelic outfit which is out of this world thanks to this silly UFO hat. So I'm off to make a billion more psychedelic outfits because I can't enough!

100 Outfit Challenge Day 20: Blue

Jeez it has been forever since I did my blue themed outfits for my Colour Outfits Collection posts. I've got a little blue themed outfit here for today's post and it's a lively look featuring plenty of polka dots. I really wanted to try using them boots as they have such an interesting design but can be tricky to work into outfits. I would've never paired them with these overalls because that would look so bad in real life. But it kinda worked which was surprising. The outfit has this strange combo of pastel and bright blue tones which is very lively.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 19: 1980's

I saw a great pin on pinterest the other day regarding the 1980's which said '80's music brings me back to good times like when I wasn't alive'. It's so true because I love 80's music but wasn't even born back then! I feel the music of the 1980's is just amazing and I have so many favourites songs from that time period. So for my 1980's inspired outfit, I went with a rock look as I feel music is the best thing I relate to from then. It's your pretty normal rock themed outfit for me with the usual items I use. I mentioned back in my rock themed outfit a few days ago that I tend to do the same looks for the style as I have items that I know work with the image.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 18: Birthday

Pretty basic theme for today which is to create an outfit that is suitable for a birthday party. I went with an outfit inspired by items from Enid Chen as I was feeling like a Chic outfit was suitable. This dress from the brand is gorgeous but I go do without the giant bow. I'd move it around the back if possible because I feel where it currently is ruins the silhouette of the dress. I used one of the tiaras from Purple Moon as it felt very Sweet 16 and suitable for this look.

CLC チャミスマ Chamisma - Mini Album Review (Type A CD Only Edition)

A big milestone in my J-Pop collecting saga was recently finally completing my CLC Japanese discography. The Korean group has released two mini albums in Japan both with multiple versions. I thought first we'd look at their second Japanese mini album チャミスマ Chamisma as it was the release that got me interested in collecting their Japanese discography in the first place. This review will look at the Type A CD Only Edition of チャミスマ Chamisma released exclusively through Tower Records Japan.

チャミスマ Chamisma Type A CD Only
チャミスマ Chamisma is CLC's second Japanese mini album and was released in 2016. The mini album is available in three editions: Type A CD Only, Type B CD+DVD and Type C CD+DVD. The mini album is exclusively available through Tower Records in Japan and wasn't released through any other Japanese stores. I brought Type A of the mini album from Bookoff via Zenmarket and the CD was in great condition. I've always gotten excellent items from Bookoff which are always in top condition. Type A of チャミスマ Chamisma comes with the following contents:
  • CD - 5 Track Album
  • Lyrics Booklet
  • Jewel Case
  • OBI Strip

Each edition of チャミスマ Chamisma has a different concept and Type A has this adorable gingham cheerleader concept. The front cover has the girls in a cheerleader pose with pom poms and the super adorable CLC logo. Honestly the group has one of the best logos in K-Pop as it's a cute kitty! The back cover contains another photo of the girls along with the track listing and production information which is standard to Japanese releases. I loved seeing a photo of the group on the back and not just a boring plain colour or backdrop.

Inside the jewel case, you'll find the adorable gingham print featured on the girls outfits behind the CD. When I first got this mini album, I was in love with the design! All the little details are amazing such as the colour scheme, hints of the cheerleader concept and the fonts used. The CD has a simple look with some logos and the mini album title.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 17: Rainy Afternoon

I feel today's theme is pretty appropriate for right now as it's currently winter and we've actually had some decent rain lately. I don't mind rainy days as long as it's a day I have off and can stay inside all day. There are these adorable rain boots in Styling Star that I just never use because I've never had a need, so I thought a rain themed outfit would be a fun chance to use them. This outfit is a mixture of basic and lively styles with a interesting colour scheme. I tried a few different colour combinations of this outer and the boots before settling on this one as I could them to match perfectly.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 16: Black

Back last year, I did a Colour Outfit Collection post on black themed outfits and I've got another one here today for the 100 Outfit Challenge. I decided to go with a girly themed outfit as I wanted to give this love heart outer a try. I think they are super cute but rarely use them as I never have items to match them with at the boutique. They look great with these bubble style skirts which are surprisingly stylish. I'd avoid them in real life but the often look good with girly items in the game. Used my favourite hat of course, I always go for this beret style in the game. You'll be seeing a lot of these over the course of this challenge.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 15: Scarf

When I was deciding on ideas for the 100 Outfit Challenge, I went with certain items for some of the days because I feel I under-use a lot of items in the game. Scarves are one of those items I rarely use in outfits and only really at the boutique to clear out for stock. For this outfit, I used one of my favourite scarf designs in the game which is the goldfish one from Kanokoi. The design is so simple yet unique and matches well with corresponding items from the same brand. I've used these a few times in Fashion Forward as I love the colour selection they come in and don't hinder other items in the outfit. Like the smaller neck scarf things (not the neckerchiefs) often look out of place in most outfits and I rarely use those silly animal ones from April Bonbon. You know the ones with the two lengths that just always look bad in my opinion. I never wear my scarf in that style during winter as it always gets in the way and doesn't keep you as warm as the way the Kanokoi ones are. That's my go-to style and it works best with longer scarfs.
