July Favourites

This month was incredibly busy for me so I don't recall what happened this month. Not too many favourites this month as not much happened for me.

Gaming
Didn't have much time for gaming this month besides some short sessions of New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star. Mainly just doing challenges and creating outfits, nothing exciting. I am planning on finally doing the 30 Day Cosplay Challenge in the game soon, so it should be up in September once I figure out 30 characters to cosplay.

Music
This month I received my copy of MOMOLAND's new album, so I've been listening to that one. Baam is still my favourite track, then Very Very and the instrumental for Baam. You can check out my review of the album here!

Been listening to some Kyary Pamyu Pamyu recently. I used to be really into her a few years ago, but kinda forgot about her when the tracks were starting to sound similar. I've got back into her music recently thanks to Spotify. I hope she releases another full album soon as I love picking those up for my collection. Blogger didn't want to link to song I wanted which was Crazy Party Night ~ぱんぷきんの逆襲~ so here is her recent release Kimino Mikata きみのみかた instead.

AKB48 has been a group I've never really got into and only knew Gingham Check from them. But this month, thanks to Produce48 appearing all the time on the Youtube App for me, I've been getting into their discography. I'd love to collect some of the physical CD's one day, but they're so crazy with all the different types! I thought KARA ones were rough, but AKB48 sometimes has 5 to 7 versions. So that's a thing for future collecting.

Shopdo Update

Here's the final Shopdo update for the month of July and this weeks outfits feature three different themes. For the first outfit, I was inspired by the Japanese promotional material for Alina's character. I decided to use the same dress and outer she is wearing in the picture shown in the Girls Mode 4 キャラぱふぇゲーム Special 2018 WINTER Magazine I posted about recently. I didn't copy her entire outfit and just went for a psychedelic look instead. The second look was made especially for a blog reader who was after this hand bag from April Bonbon. The final outfit is a gothic coordinate as I haven't featured one for a little while. I wanted to use one of the corsets from Raven Candle and go for a softer colour palette. You can visit my Shopdo at ID 0006271056 if you play New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star (EUR/AUS region).

Designer Item - Coco Parade

Here's the new designer item for this week. This is actually one of the first items I designed in Styling Star to test out the design feature. I was surprised at how limited the designer options where when I first used the feature compared to the variety available in Fashion Forward. I made this dress to test out the colour palettes and patterns and went for a pastel colour scheme. The title Coco Parade is after the name of my boutique in the game which is called CocoPuri.

You can download the Coco Parade dress at the following details:

The Return Of The Original Style Boutique!

I was out shopping recently and decided to check out a local video games store to see what 3DS games they had in stock. It was my lucky day as I found a copy of the original Style Boutique game for the DS! I had this game years ago, but traded it in when I was doing a big clear out. I was actually looking for New Style Boutique, but they only had this one. So excited to find a copy and relive the good old days of the series.

Haven't had a chance to start it up yet but will do soon. I had a quick flick through the manual and I forgot how old the graphics were haha. I liked the information about the brands in the manual as I had forgotten that they had different names in the first game.

Shopdo Visits - Tumblr Edition

Haven't done one of these in a while, so I thought I'd share some Shopdo's I visited recently.  I had an idea to try visiting players from social media as something different to just picking ones from the Shopdo App. All these Shopdo's are players from tumblr so I've linked their accounts in the description on each Shopdo. Some of these players I may have visited before in my Shopdo Visits, so there could possibly be repeats.

I quite liked this players boutique layout as I thought it was quite colourful and a fun room to be in. Their player has a cute preppy/girly style outfit on and I liked the way they paired knee high socks with those shirt style dresses.

A lovely gothic/chic style mash-up was my impression from this players boutique. Their hair and make-up is on point! I'd never tried to use that vest with the musical note skirt but it totally works! Inspires me to try using those vest style items from Raven Candle more.

Girls Mode 4 キャラぱふぇゲーム Special 2018 WINTER Magazine

Last year I posted about a Girls Mode 3 magazine I brought from Japan. Well I recently received a similar magazine from Amazon Japan so I thought I would share some photos from it. The magazine is a special winter edition of the Chara Parfait magazine which is a magazine targeted at young girls. The title of the magazine is キャラぱふぇゲームSpecial 2018 WINTER and features a section devoted to ガールズモード 4 (Girls Mode 4). Here is the cover of the magazine which features a variety of topics and games. Most of the magazine is about Sumikko Gurashi and even came with a adorable Sumikko Gurashi playing cards set.

The magazine features a cute calendar based off ガールズモード 4 that you can cut out of the magazine. It features 12 months and images of the main idol girls in their promotional material outfits. The back of the calendar has some characters dressed up in new items from the game.

Shopdo Update

Quick update for my new outfits available on Shopdo! The rock interior is still set up in the boutique and the first outfit for this week's update is another rock themed outfit. Went with a crazy purple and yellow mash-up for this outfit. Thought I'd try using these t-shirt style dresses and some tights I rarely use. I titled the outfit Join The Pack as I thought that's what the words make out on the dress. The second outfit is a girly outfit in a grey colour scheme. Used some items I rarely use with this outfit as well such as the socks and handbag. I named it Grey Sky which was inspired by the colour scheme and current cold weather here. The final outfit is a look I've never tried before. At first I was trying to go for a rockabilly look based around the collar shirt from AZ-USA. I wanted to use a hoop skirt from Retrobeat but it was tricky to get a good colour match. The outfit ended up with this blue and orange scheme featuring items from a variety of brands. So if you play Style Boutique 3 (EUR/AUS region), why not visit my Shopdo at ID 0006271056!

Style Boutique - Recreating Modelling Jobs

Since I was missing the modelling jobs recently in Styling Star, I thought it would be a fun challenge to try to recreate my modelling jobs from Fashion Forward in Styling Star. I used all the modelling photos I have posted on my Modelling Jobs Guide on my Style Boutique Guide. I tried to copy the outfit, make-up, hairstyle and poses as close as possible. However I discovered that it can be tricky to match the exact make-up and hairstyle as some colours and hair cuts have been removed in Styling Star. It also seems not all the frames for photos were included as well, so I had to just improvise with the closest ones if the original wasn't available. For the photo shoot locations, I tried to pick new locations in Styling Star that looked the closest to removed locations.

So here is the first photo shoot I recreated which is the 'A Bright Christmas' modelling job. One of my favourite outfits I created for the Photo Studio as I love the colour combination and the outfit looks amazing with the Purple Moon items mixed in with the girly items.

Luckily the entire outfit I used originally was included in the new game. If you look closely at the photo set from Fashion Forward and the one from Styling Star, you can noticed straight away the differences in game graphics. The shadows are a bit strange in the Styling Star photos but they look more realistic. For the location, I used one of the stage locations as that was closest to the original Live Music Club set. No matching frame unfortunately so I went with a random starry effect.

Designer Item - Candy Cane

I present to you the only dress you need for the festive season! Yes I know it's a bit early for Christmas but Christmas in July is totally a thing right? So here is this yummy candy cane themed dress I have available at the Design Centre. I created this dress a while ago because I felt like making a food themed dress. The limited design features worked for this design as it doesn't require much to look like a candy cane. I do wish you could change the colour of the yellow tassels though as I would've preferred them in another colour.

You can download the Candy Cane set at the following details:

MOMOLAND 4th Mini Album Fun To The World - Album Review

Received my copy of MOMOLAND's new Korean album. It seems I've become quite a fan of the group this year. Going from having no albums to four albums since the start of this year. So let's get into the review of MOMOLAND's 4th Mini Album Fun To The World!

Fun To The World is MOMOLAND's 4th Mini Album and was released in June 2018. The album comes in one version and is smaller than the other MOMOLAND albums I have in my collection. The mini album includes the following contents:

  • CD- 5 track album
  • Photobook - 52 pages
  • Photocard - Random from 9 types
  • Sticker - 5 sheets

The mini albums design reflects the group celebrating other countries and travelling across the globe. The front cover has an illustration of a plane along with various images of tourist sights and MOMOLAND logos. I thought it was cute how the name is spelt out in shoes! I guess this ties in with the shuffle dance they do in the MV. The back cover has images of various countries flags and the track listing for the album. The CD sits nicely in a sturdy CD case which I'm always a fan of. The CD features the MOMOLAND logo and same colour scheme as the rest of the album.

Style Boutique: Sequel Ideas

This is a post I've been wanting to create for a long time now. I thought I would share game features and content that I would like to see if a sequel was made to New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star. There was so much content missing from Styling Star that I've missed, so some of these ideas may be old game features that were removed or altered. Please note, that these are just my ideas and I have no idea if a new game in the series will ever be made. These are just aspects I would love to have in the game. Anyway, let's get started!

Design your own nails
This was actually something I thought was going to be included in Styling Star. When I was younger, I used to play a lot of games were you'd make your own nail designs from the colours, stickers and features included on the website. So I naturally thought this concept would be the same in Styling Star. Then it turned out you just pick from pre-made ones which is nice, but not as fun. We totally need the feature to create our own designs to match outfits.

This panda design is pretty adorable though.

The return of Train Station locations
I couldn't believe that the train station locations were removed in Styling Star. You spent so much time visiting them in Fashion Forward that I thought they would just carry over into the new game. I don't need all of them to return, mainly just Maple Crescent and the Meadows as they are my favourites. Even if the train station doesn't have these locations, I'd like to see maybe an Eastern inspired garden added to the main city.

Standing around wondering why this wonderful location was removed.

Events with NPC's
One of the things Styling Star lacks is the options to interact with NPC's in the game. You only really attend events with the main characters or others in the main story line. Past that, there are only a few story points that pop up after the main story line finishes. I miss being invited to visit places with the main characters and take fun photos.

No region-locking!
This one is kinda self-explanatory and I've discussed it previously in other posts. I just want to be able to visit my friends who play Style Savvy and players in Japan. I just don't get why Fashion Forward was region free but Styling Star isn't.

Bring back Fashion Shows!
Such a core feature of the game, yet wasn't present in the new game. The game felt quite empty without fashion shows and there wasn't really much to do past the main story line challenge wise. As frustrating as the fashion shows were, I miss them and Styling Star could've improved on the concept so much. Like maybe have the feature to dress up multiple models or have a competitive aspect again where you compete against the computer models.

Five stars!! Take that game!!!

Rebuild the Photo Studio & have modelling jobs again
I find it so annoying to have to visit NIN10 every time I want to take photos and listen to Jim's speech about how to take photos. I would've liked to have seen the idea of the Photo Studio from Fashion Forward expanded upon and have the ability to change outfits at the shoot. I waste so much time going back and forth changing outfits for photos. It's nice to take more than one photo at a time though, A+ on that idea! Modelling Jobs are another aspect I'd like to see return. I didn't do them much, but it was fun to try to create outfits to match the theme.

Shopdo Update - Rock Themed Interior

My boutique has a new interior for this weeks Shopdo update! I thought it was finally time for a rock inspired interior but more on that later on in the post. This weeks outfits are inspired by the new theme. The first one is a rock themed outfit which is a style I rarely have on my Shopdo. Second outfit is a fun psychedelic/rock fusion outfit titled Mismatched. I called it that because of all the crazy patterns I used in the outfit. The final outfit for this week is this amazing bold outfit I've just discovered. I've always used the top and bottom items separately but I just noticed the other day that they match! So if you play Style Boutique 3 (EUR/AUS region), you can visit my Shopdo at ID 0006271056.

Now for the new boutique interior! I decided to go with a rock themed interior since I hadn't done one yet in an update. This was actually pretty easy to design as there are some great rock themed items. I kept the layout pretty simple and tried to make it symmetrical in the middle part. My character has a stylish glam/flirty inspired outfit on and my assistant is sporting a new look as well to match the rock interior.

Style Boutique 2: Room Address Update July 2018

I realised this morning that I hadn't posted my updated Caprice Chalet room on Marzipan Wonderland. So if you play Fashion Forward, I have a new room available for download! This month's Caprice Chalet room is a adorable pastel themed beauty room. I created this room a while ago as I love using the pastel coloured miniatures. Unfortunately this room doesn't qualify as a room type for renting, so no one ever uses it. Thought I'd put it for download this month so players can enjoy the space.

You can download the DokiDoki room at Room Address 180-239-9851 in either New Style Boutique 2, Style Savvy 3 or ガールズモード3(Girls Mode 3).

Animal Crossing New Leaf Play Journal - Celebrations & Haircuts

Even though I haven't had much time to play Animal Crossing New Leaf recently, I've managed to save enough pictures to share another play journal. First off, here is my character doing some fishing with Pudge. Isn't he the cutest bear you've ever seen? He isn't too good at fishing unfortunately.

It was Pudge's birthday recently so I thought I would give him a fish as a birthday present. Or more like that was the only item I had on me that I was willing to give him when I visited his house for his birthday. He seemed a bit confused at the concept of an eel haha.

Found Dotty sitting on the tree log and having a little snooze one night. It's adorable when villagers use the seats around town. I love catching them having a nap! I only really keep this log seat around for the villagers to chill out on.

Here is Bill's classic line of claiming to always be working out. Like what else would you be doing Bill? He's one of my favourite villagers in the game. I had him in my town years ago, but he moved out when I stopped playing. Managed to trade for his amiibo card off someone in New Zealand as I wanted his card in my collection. Then when the feature got added to move in villager via scanning them in, I moved him in straight away!

Designer Item - Yoshi Logo Tee

Here is one of my latest creations in the Design Centre that I thought I would share. This weeks item is a cute tee featuring the Yoshi emblem! This emblem can only be unlocked using a Yoshi amiibo in Styling Star and can be used on various designer items. I rarely use the emblems but thought it would be cute to create a logo tee featuring one of the amiibo emblems. The t-shirt design options are quite lacklustre in Styling Star, so I just went with a simple design with pink and green colours to match the emblem colours.

You can download Yoshi Logo Tee at the following details:

One Item Challenge - Marble Lily

Time for a new challenge series on my blog. This time it's the One Item Challenge! The point of this challenge is to select one item from a brand and create outfits of each image/style in the game based around that one item. As with all my other Styling Star challenges, I will be creating outfits based off the defunct styles such as glam/flirty and sporty as well as a Purple Moon outfit.

So for the first post in this new series, I've chosen a skirt from Marble Lily as my one item. The skirt is Gingham Skirt in the colour pink. So every outfit in the challenge will contain this skirt and I'll create an outfit based around it.

Baby-Doll

Here is the first outfit in the One Item Challenge which is the Baby-Doll look. Thought I'd start out with the original image of the skirt. This seems like the perfect time to take advantage of the less puffy skirt to use one the outers from Marble Lily. I rarely use the jackets from this brand as I dislike how they push down the fullness of skirts and dresses.

Lively

Honestly this is one my favourite outfits I've created this year. It's just too adorable and so over the top. I went a little crazy with the pink as it's my favourite colour. I actually featured this outfit in my Shopdo a few weeks back (with a slight adjustment to the accessories). Saved this outfit to my scrapbook as I'll definitely come back to it in the future.

Eastern
This one turned out quite lovely and I just love the design on the shirt. Sometimes it can be challenging matching colours with items under the eastern image. For this outfit, I just looked for pink or lighter coloured items. The cherry blossom hair clips from Purple Moon were a nice touch to the outfit.

YesAsia Haul - MOMOLAND, I.O.I & Crayon Pop

Received a YesAsia order yesterday that I had been waiting for. Two of the items were pre-orders I made last month so it took a while between ordering the items to them actually being shipped. This order had some exciting items in it, one of them being something I've been wanting for years. So here is my recent YesAsia order of albums from I.O.I and MOMOLAND and a DVD from Crayon Pop!

First, here's MOMOLAND's fourth mini album Fun To The World which I received. It is their recent Korean release and I have to say the album cover is so boring in my opinion. I'm just not a fan of boring cover designs and would rather have images of the group on there. I wish they had used the promo material for the cover like what was shown on the item listing rather than this boring one. Nice album though, much smaller than their other releases I've got from them. Will post a review soon of the album! I received Ahin's photocard which was nice as she's one of my favourites. Would've liked to have gotten JooE's as hers looked amazing or maybe Jane's as I quite like her look with this comeback.

Now I wasn't originally planning on ordering this I.O.I album, but I saw on the net that their albums were being re-issued last month. So I thought why not order the only one I was missing for my collection which was Miss Me? It's a nice album, packaging is a bit weird as the photobook just sits in a slot and the photocard keeps coming out. I got Somi's photocard which I was so ecstatic about when it fell out. It's super cute!

Lastly, here's the item that made this order all worth it. Now I've been after the Pop In Japan DVD from Crayon Pop since it came out. However it was priced quite high on most online stores so I never brought it. But one day I was scrolling through the deals on YesAsia and to my amazement, the DVD was listed as a Great Deals item for only $11.99USD! At the time, I couldn't place an order so I waited a few weeks till I was able to hoping the item wouldn't go up in price. Luckily the price jumped up right after I ordered it! Usually the item is listed for around $50AUD so it was a steal at this way cheaper price.

Shopdo Update

The lively boutique is staying for another week as I haven't had time to make a new one as I've been crazy busy lately. I have managed to find sometime to post my weekly Shopdo update! The first outfit for this week is another lively outfit. I really wanted to use this crazy looking jacket so after I decided on that I just found random pastel coloured items for the rest of the look. The second outfit is a baby-doll/girly look that features a nautical tone to it. I built this outfit around the outer as I quite liked these in Fashion Forward. The final outfit is a baby-doll outfit since I haven't done one in a while. Just a simple red coordinate with more of a casual look. So if you would like to visit my Shopdo, you can at ID 0006271056 if you play Style Boutique (EUR/AUS region).
