A few days late, but I'm finally here with my October Favourites! Last month went by so quickly and the weather was all over the place. I thought it was start to finally warm up but we had quite a number of cold days and only about 3 days over 30 degrees. Gaming The 100 Outfit Challenge in Styling Star finally ended in October and you can check out the challenge page if you wish to catch up on it. I really enjoyed it and discovered so many new favourite outfits. I've also seen a number of players on tumblr doing my older challenges like the brand ones, so I will need to post about those soon. I've loved seeing all the amazing outfits players have come up with and their interpretations on the prompts. Here's a sneak peak at one of my upcoming Styling Star posts I will post later this month!
Music I've lost track of how many orders I have coming to me from Japan currently. I brought a bunch of rare albums and singles that I have been after for years so I'm excited to receive those. I still need to post my last Zenmarket haul from a few months ago on here, so I'll try to get to that this month. I actually did buy some non K-Pop and J-Pop releases this month! I got The Living End's recent release Wunderbar in the CD+DVD limited edition for my Living End collection. Picked up The Essential *Nsync because I do love my *Nsync! The TLC and Gwen Stefani ones were random purchases as they were cheap. All of these CD's came from JB Hi-Fi which has the best selection of CD's in Australia. They do have a small selection of K-Pop and J-Pop but it's limited to boy groups unfortauntly. I pick up a BLACPINK mini album a while back that I'll probably post about in my yearly collection post as it's not a main group I collect hardcore and just brought it for my collection.
Song wise I've been enjoying a whole stack of releases. I've been interested in TWICE for a while now, but don't collect any of their physicals currently. Usually I listen to their releases a few months after they come out and after the hype has died down. I found that's the easiest way I can get into their stuff. So I've been loving their song Fancy and especially the Japanese version. Might actually pick that up one day as it's on the Breakthrough single which is another song I enjoy. A bunch of other songs I've been super into include Happiness - Chao Chao, Elris - Summer Dream and Saturday - BByong. E-girls just announced a new single which I'm hoping is another digital release as I would like to take a break from physicals over the holidays. Let's hope it's as good as EG-ENERGY which is still playing on my playlist everyday.
So here we are finally at the round up of the 100 Outfit Challenge and boy it's a been a long few months. Just over 3 months exactly and the seasons have even changed from Winter to Spring! It's hard to believe I came up with 100 outfits and I feel my creativity has really been pushed to it's limits. This was a fun challenge to do as it kept me occupied and I got to try out some items and ideas I wouldn't normally do. The next question is that will I do another challenge like this in the future? Most likely not as I think this is my last big challenge for a long time as my work schedule just doesn't allow me to post as much as I used to and with Christmas coming up, it's going to be super busy for me as it's the busiest time of year for logistics. I will most likely finish off my One Item Challenges and the Colour Collection posts for the blog, but no other large outfit challenges for me. I picked out a selection of some of my favourite outfits from the 100 Outfit Challenge. Just noticed that nearly all the outfits feature skirts or dresses so we definitely know I prefer those over pants. It seems I quite like my girly or casual styled outfits as a number of the my top outfits belong to those styles. Surprisingly quite a few of the outfits below were ones I didn't expect to like so much, like the least favourite and favourite colour outfit or the leg warmers one. I think Styling Star has opened my eyes to trying out more styles rather than just sticky to girly or baby-doll like I normally would. Psychedelic has definitely become one of my go-to styles and I've been using way more items from AZ-USA and Enid Chen than I used to. Wow, we are finally here at the final day of the 100 Outfit Challenge. It's been a long journey and a billion outfits it feels like. The theme for Day 100 is pretty simple which is to just choose your favourite outfit in the game. I knew I had to go with my eastern and psychedelic mashup as it's been my favourite since I made it what seems like a billion years ago for a challenge. Everything is amazing about it; the colours, the elegance and fusion of styles. It also combines some of my favourite colour tones in the game which are pink and purple. The backdrop is my lovely pink themed boutique from a while back as I loved this interior when I had it. A fun little theme for Day 99 and that's to create your own style. I've seen players doing this on tumblr so I thought I'd give it a shot. My style is focused on denim and every denim on denim. The main inspiration for my idea was the cover and concept of i.o.i's first mini album Chrysalis. I have the special edition of the album sitting on a shelf so I was looking at that when I was trying to get an idea. The style is a mixture of girly and preppy and is all about denim. I went with a top and hat that kinda had a denim feel to it to give the impression of denim. This theme was quite fun and I love how the idea turned out!
You all knew it was coming so here is my glam/flirty themed outfit! It's the final style of the challenge and my personal favourite to create in my challenges. It's fun to find the old Miss Ribbon items within the current brands and piece them together. I do have a guide book now that contains all the original items within the glam brand so it's easier to figure them out. I will be posting a glam guide thing later on that details each item from the brand. Anyway please enjoy my lovely lilac glam outfit! I'm sure I've posted a similar outfit to this previously as the glam items tend to cycle around after a while because there is only so many of them.
I would just like to thank the developers of Styling Star for including so many amazing new items in the game. One of my personal favourites are these strange poncho style outers which can be found at a few brands. I went with this quirky one from Retrobeat for my psychedelic outfit. I've probably made this look a thousand times already because I love it so much. I combined the outer with these adorable kitty socks from the same brand and some shoes to match the purple/blue tones in the ribbons and pockets. Another thing I love about this style of outer is that you don't have to worry about what inner and bottoms you use and can just select anything short. Super easy!
Waistcoats and vests are another item in Style Boutique that I feel I never use. I might use a vest occasionally in lively outfits and a waistcoat maybe in a gothic look if it looks good. So today I wanted to try to use a waistcoat or vest I normally wouldn't touch. I ended up using this deep green toned one for a cute girly outfit and I love how it turned out. It's a nice look for autumn weather as the colour tones match the colours of autumn. The waistcoat doesn't look too bulky in the photos which was a concern of mine and one reason why I avoid them.
Bit of a new look with today's outfit which is a combination of chic and glam/flirty style. I do love my glam style so I'm happy this look turned out so perfect. The dress looks a bit cheap compared to all the other expensive items in the look but it's the ultimate combination of gold tones and sequins! Gold items in the game are generally limited to Enid Chen so it was a no brainier to go with a chic styled outfit. I've done a Gold Colour Outfits Collection post previously and even then I struggled to find items in each style. So it was pretty easy to narrow down the items I wanted to use for this look and the new butterfly wing styled shoes were the perfect final touch to the outfit.
Now I've done a mismatch outfit previously in my 30 Day Outfit Challenge and the result was an interesting one. And it seems this time my mismatched outfit turned out kinda similar. I decided to narrow my choices to random girly themed items to see if the outfit would make some cohesive sense. I ended up randomly select the same style of bolero which was interesting considering how many outers are in the section. The rest of the outfit is kinda meh and just looks like you got dressed in the dark. It could look better without the bow and bolero which I added because I wanted a number of items in the outfit. Maybe I'll have more luck next time with my randomised outfit.
Today marks the first of October and the final month of the 100 Outfit Challenge. I went with another clothing themed prompt for today as I wanted to get outside my comfortable zone and try using an item I always avoid. We all know that item in Style Boutique that we never use because we either dispose it, can never work it into outfits or just don't understand the design of it. For me, my least favourite item would be these low neckline jumpers which are available from a variety of brands. I just don't get them and I'm not a huge fan of low necklines in jumpers. For my outfit, I choose to work with a pink spotted jumper as I love the colour and the pattern is cute. It was pretty easy from them and I made this girly styled look. I actually quite enjoy this and I like how you can see the detail on the inner with the low neckline.
Last day of September today so that means another round of monthly favourites. I feel this month went super quick but I'm glad October is finally here as that means the weather will warm up a little bit and we'll be into summer weather in no time! It's been a great opportunity to try out looks I normally wouldn't do like this gorgeous girly/feminine inspired outfit based around my favourite colour pink and least favourite colour red.
October's Shopdo updates will be all about Halloween outfits and I've posted my first round yesterday! I am thinking of changing the posting schedule of Shopdo after October due to my personal schedule becoming a lot busier towards Christmas. I might go to monthly updates for Shopdo as I've been struggling sometimes with coming up with outfits each week and it's difficult sometimes to get time to update each weekend. It's just something I've been thinking about for a little while and it might be time to switch it up a bit. I want to try and start posting a monthly Caprice Chalet update as well like I used to. Music Been listening to a variety of stuff this month as I just listen to whatever is on my current playlist in my car mostly. I've still been listening to Wink and FEMM non-stop which I posted about last month. Aitai-tai from Red Velvet's #CookieJar has been another favourite stuck in my head as has Black Widow from Pristin. At least Pledis finally announced their disbandment a little while back, now if only we could get an official confirmation on After School after all these years of nothing. Happiness has a new song out called Chao Chao which is amazing as usual and Dream Ami brought out a new digital single 恋のつぼみ Koi no Tsubomi. I was hoping for a new physical single or album as I wanted to get one from CDJapan for my birthday. But I'm guessing this song will be on her next release.
Today's outfit blew me away as I wasn't expecting this theme to turn out so well and it has become one of my top outfits of the entire challenge. The idea was to combine my favourite and least favourite colours together into one outfit. Now pink is my favourite colour and red is my least favourite colour but luckily these colours are quite close to each in terms of colour palettes. I went straight to this inner as I knew it had both colours in it and built the rest of the outfit around it. It actually turned out quite well and very stylish. I actually used more red than pink items in the outfit and I think that helped make the outfit really pop.
The gothic coordinate of my 100 Outfit Challenge is finally here and I've gone for a gothic look I've never really tried before. I'm quite a fan of the musical design of this skirt and I think it's one of the more unique designs in the game. It has such beautiful detail and even has a camisole to match the musical theme. To continue with the musical theme of this coordinate, I used this piano handbag from Raven Candle however the colour is slightly off compared to the green in the skirt and inner. I quite like this gothic look as it's a bit more elegant than my usual gothic coordinates where I use the pannier skirt/dress items.
On the home stretch now with Day 90 of the challenge and the theme for today is Buttoned Up! The idea of this theme is to use an outer that contains button. The inspiration for this theme was the outers that are rarely used by players. I feel there's a large number of outers towards to bottom of the list that get ignored. I know myself I tend to not scroll that far down or avoid them due to looking too bulky. For my Buttoned Up outfit, I went with this preppy inspired outfit as I wanted to use this quirky card print inspired outer from Brooke Bridge. This jacket has a unique design and colour tones to it which I tried to match in the plaid skirt. The make-up I've been using throughout this entire challenge was perfectly suited for this preppy style look.
Today is all about being lazy as we haven't really had a day off like this during this 100 Outfit Challenge. I just went for a pjama look because is there any better way to explain the word lazy in clothing form. It's amazing how these items from Marzipan Sky and Marble Lily legit look like sleepwear! I always thought these pants were pjamas and they paired up well with this outer and shoes from Marble Lily. Funny how the shoes look just like ugg boots, I wonder if they are based off a EGL style shoe in Japan. Because over here they just remind me of ugg boots (or slippers for all my non-Australian readers). Anyway shoe discussion aside, I thought this look was cute and it was exciting to find sleepwear looking items that match so well in an outfit.
I feel I've kinda run out of captions to write for all these outfits after posting 87 of them. Today is just another colour themed day with today's outfit all about green. I went with a girly look as I'm still into these camisoles from Marzipan Sky. This one is interesting in particular as it contains different patterns but the design still looks amazing. I paired it with a basic skirt and some trainers as it's a pretty casual look. The girly style is kinda like that for me, it's my version of basic really. I tend to wear pretty basic girly styled clothing in real life so I try to go for that look in game sometimes. Plus Marzipan Sky has some great casual looking items in a variety of colours and patterns.
Do you ever have a certain clothing item that you always wear like 80% of the time? Well I feel that's me with this style of hat in the Style Boutique games. I just always go back to them as these berets are too cute and go well with so many outfits. I tried to use items in the rest of the outfit that I normally don't use. This dress matches well with the purple shades of the beret and I added some purple toned accessories for the final touch. These patterned dresses are kinda cute and I should definitely try using them more!
It's no surprise of what item I used for the glasses theme as there is only one pair of glasses that are my number one pair in the game. And that's this stylish pair from Enid Chen! They are my go to glasses when creating chic themed outfits and I think most chic outfits I've created within the last few months have always included this pair. I can't decided which colour of the glasses is my favourite so I went with a pair that matched a dress I haven't used much. The pattern on this dress is so crazy and feels very over the top which isn't that what expensive clothes are sometimes about. Like being gaudy as and feel very exclusive.
I'm actually surprised at how good this outfit turned out considering the challenge of building an outfit with items under $29. I was worried at first that the outfit would look too basic and just like my basic styled outfits. But it kinda came out in a psychedelic style which is interesting. I tried to use items from a variety of brands and not just Basic U. The final look is quite fashionable and out of the box and I love how the skirt matches the t-shirt print. The only thing I struggled with is the shoes and I went with these to match the psychedelic look of the t-shirt.
Nice and simple outfit for today as I've gone for a basic outfit. Styling Star is the first game that I've made the most basic outfits in, most due to challenges. But I feel the brand Basic U received some great new items in the game and that encouraged me to use it more. Especially these stunning camisoles as I rarely use those items in previous games. This particular item is my favourite camisole from the brand and I always pair it with items of the same colour tone. So enjoy this lovely casual look to celebrate the basic style!
