Shopdo Visits - One More Time

A sad moment this week with the online services for the 3DS being turned off by Nintendo on the 8th of April. I cannot believe it is actually happening and I have many great memories using the service. Sadly with no online, the Shopdo feature in New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star and Style Savvy: Styling Star will no longer be functional. NOOO!! I've spent so much time on it and it was always such a big part of my blogs. So I thought for one more time, I would go visit some players on the Shopdo app and take some cute photos whilst I still can.

Starting off, I headed to the recent section of Shopdo and visited whoever came up. No idea if any of these are recent players or older uploads. Are people even still playing Styling Star online? Like I still play the game, but usually by myself. Everyone had on gorgeous outfits and it was fun seeing the boutique layouts. I totally forgot about decorating the boutique recently and how limited it was in the game.

Shopdo Update 2024 - The Final Collection

A sad day is upon us with Nintendo finally shutting down online services for the 3DS on the 8th of April. Unfortunately that means that the Shopdo feature in New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star and Style Savvy: Styling Star will no longer available. So tragic! I wonder how many hours I've spent on Shopdo because I've used it so much and it was a big part of my blog for years. It's shocking that it will no longer be playable soon. 

Decided to upload one final collection in celebration of the service and to go out with some of my favorites! I went with three looks from my scrapbook as these are outfits that I'm proud of and been some of my favourite work in Styling Star. Maybe once the service shuts down, they can exist in cyber space haha. First off is a cute pink dress that was one of my ultimate items in the game and I was obsessed with these. One of the best items added in the game and I add my famous beret to it as all outfits cannot be completed without one. Second look is a simple girly look featuring some excellent items that were always a smash hit. Love these shades of blue and the denim look of the skirt. Lastly we have a glam/flirty look of course because I couldn't go out with a glam look. This image will never die and I will take it to the grave. It was impossible to decide on my favourite glam look from my scrapbook as there was some amazing pink ones. But I went with the purple tones as it felt very Y2K and I feel you could wear this in real life with current fashion trends.

Pretty much only a few days as the service will be offline soon. It has been a wonderful experience posting all my Shopdo looks to the blog as well as my Shopdo posts on the guide blog. I'm kind of sad that it is all over and my very first Shopdo Update was back in 2018. That was forever ago and now we are here at the final one. I wonder how many updates I posted and it would be fun to look back at all the outfits I created. Maybe another time and anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post and come visit!

One Year Challenge Week 52: Glam/Flirty

OMG I cannot believe we are finally at the last week of the One Year Challenge! It has been a long run and the final set of outfits are here. And the theme is one of my favourites: Glam/Flirty! Since I started blogging my outfits in Style Boutique, this style has become one of my top picks and it is the worst thing that I only came to appreciate it after it was removed from the game. At least the items stayed and we can make some fabulous looks with them. Because I've made so many glam/flirty outfits over the years, it was hard to tell if I had done these outfits before. I feel the first look is one of my classic glam looks with the glittery top and skirt combo. I swear I've done this look in all the colours that this top comes in. Second outfit is a cute pastel blue patterned look and I love this one so much! The patterns just look amazing together and my character looks so tall! It has to be the socks giving that illusion combined with the giant hairstyle. The final outfit is a big one to end the challenge on and it is giving gold medal vibes. Like we've reached the end of the race and this is the trophy. If it is the colour gold and has an animal print on it, well this outfit has it!

One Year Challenge Week 51: Plain

The theme for this weeks selection of outfits was the word plain and honestly they turned out not that plain looking. I think they look more eye catching than plain! The look is a cute girly inspired look and is rather fashionable. The combination of pastel with the striking blue jeans is giving the opposite vibe to plain. The second outfit would be the most boring of them all but is still lovely. I went with a lively outfit as that particular image has a number of items that are quite basic looking even though the April Bonbon brand has some crazy looking pieces. I continued the pastel feel in the second outfit however the final look is far from pastel. It is rather bold with all the black leather and a mixture of bold and rock. I quite like this look and each item works great together. Usually I'm unsure about skirts this length and it worked well with the boots.

One Year Challenge Week 50: Over $1000

The theme of this week is to create an outfit worth over $1000 and it seems kind of pointless as it was just going to be a Chic themed set. And that's exactly what happened as I made outfits from items from Enid Chen, Purple Moon and ARIANNA. For something new, I tried to use items I haven't used much before and I enjoyed finding pieces from Enid Chen and Purple Moon that would go together. First outfit is a boring business look however it has a nice bling touch with the watch. Middle outfit I combined some costume pieces from Purple Moon with this outer and boots from Enid Chen. Quite the statement with the bright turquoise colour. Final outfit is my favourite with the cute uniform look. Love how well this skirt matched the costume pieces and it is too perfect! The bag was another amazing find and this looks way better than the original costume from Purple Moon.

One Year Challenge Week 49: Soy

Ah Soy the one brand that I just cannot become a fan of in Style Boutique. Like don't get me wrong, it has some lovely items! I feel it isn't as strong as other brands in the game and could've been expanded upon. Boho-chic is an awesome style and there are many amazing pieces available in real life that fit that aesthetic. Soy always seems on par with Kanokoi for me with having a unique image but limited items. I was pleased with all three looks I put together and felt they were different enough from my usual boho-chic looks. The colour schemes showcase the items from the brand and the earthly tones of Soy. The third look is my favourite as the red is just gorgeous and I love the bag matching the dress.

One Year Challenge Week 48: Beachwear

It seems quite silly to be posting swim wear themed outfits in the middle of winter. Really didn't plan that one out well and this would've been more suited for the summer months. Oh well cannot go back in time now to fix that one up. For this weeks theme I went with two bikini looks and one poolside one. Styling Star has a good range of bikini tops to pick from and amazingly there are bottoms that match perfectly. It always makes me wish there was a swimwear brand in the game and all of these could be moved to that brand. The middle outfit is a fun look for a poolside party and I like these bold themed items that I haven't used much. Quite fun for a summer night!

One Year Challenge Week 47: Purple Moon

I was recently thinking that because I've been playing Style Boutique for so long that I'm kind of bored with the items available from Purple Moon. I feel like I've used them all and nothing is exciting anymore. You can only do so much with them I guess and there is only a limited amount of set costumes you can make. So I'm not too excited about this weeks theme as I'm hit my limit my Purple Moon but at least the outfits look cute. First up is a elegant panda inspired look and I added the yellow flower as a nice touch for the accessory. The second outfit is my favourite which is a cute bee and makes me feel excited for Halloween outfits in a few months! Lastly I went with something that wasn't so costume focused and made this gorgeous gown outfit. The gems on the dress remind me of a necklace I had back in the 2000's. It had the exact same layout and  sat the same way on the neck. I think that is why I picked this dress as it reminded me of that necklace.

One Year Challenge Week 46: Outdoor

OMG we are finally nearing the last few weeks of this challenge. It has been going forever!!! Today I've put together three outdoor outfits which could be a spin off of the sporty theme. Outdoor is pretty much sports anyway I feel in terms of clothing and it was easy to find items when I remembered which ones used to fall under the sporty style. First look is quite fun as it features some bright purple and green colour tones. Purple isn't a colour I see too much in sport clothes in the shops and it totally should appear more as it is such a energetic colour. Second look is a cute sporty outfit that would be nice to wear if you wear going out to run errands on a cold day. I've never been a fan of puffy jackets but I see stacks of people wearing the Kathmandu ones in the winter months. I love Kathmandu and tend to stick to their thermal jackets more as they are warmer. Last look is a rocker inspired ski outfit and no clue how I came to that inspiration.

One Year Challenge Week 45: Complex

Complex is a search term that I have never really used in Styling Star. Like what does it even mean? I'm guessing complex as is the design/print on the item? That was the thing I thought it was referring to as these three outfits do have some complex looking patterns going on. This first look is a favourite and I hadn't tried making a bold look like this yet. Normally I would avoid this top and pants and the complex theme made me take a second look at them. Second outfit is a eastern inspired look as I feel I haven't done too many of those in this challenge. Kanokoi just doesn't have a wide enough range for me to use it constantly compared to other brands like Marzipan Sky or AZ-USA. Last outfit is a psychedelic look as that style defines complex with all it's crazy looking pieces.

One Year Challenge Week 44: Random

Thought I would try a little challenge for week 44 and test out some randomised outfits. Well I can safely say that it worked because these outfits are super random and rather bizarre. To make it more cohesive, I choose a specific style to pick from rather than all the items in the game. Then there was a higher chance of it looking decent. The first look was a girly outfit and it just doesn't match at all. I'm sitting here thinking if I've even seen this top before. Like I totally have but I'm just seeing it in a new light in this crazy get-up. The second outfit is the best of the bunch and I think that is due to the psychedelic style. That particular images works for random looks and this is the most ideal one to wear out in public. I would swap the shoes if possible to a colour that is already featured in the outfit as there isn't too much pink in it. The final outfit is a gothic/baby-doll inspired look that got about 50% to looking good then just gave up. So close to getting everything to cohesively matching!!! The items work well together and it is just the colours that ruin it.

One Year Challenge Week 43: Animal

Now I have no idea why I took two outfits with the stripe photo background and one in the apartment. When I was looking at my saved photos, I thought it was the dumbest thing. Oh well at least we got some nice animal print themed looks! First outfit is a glam/flirty inspired ensemble featuring a lot of grey. I picked a colour and ran with it! Loving the top half and the bottom is kind of meh for me. Second look is one of the cow outfits from Purple Moon which I combined with a polka dot print on the bottom. Not my finest look but it fits the theme. Lastly we have a chic outfit featuring some purple snake print items. Enid Chen has some great pieces that fall under the animal search label and it finally gave me an excuse to use this hat I never touch.

One Year Challenge Week 42: Amiibo

Remember when amiibos were a thing? I feel they aren't popular anymore and I only hear them mentioned because two of my co-workers collect the new ones when they are released. I was rather lucky that when it was announced Style Boutique had amiibo locked items, my friend lent me his to copy into the game. The amiibo items in Styling Star are incredibly boring compared to Fashion Forward which had the most amazing selection. This week's outfits look like a follow on from last week's theme of designer items as the amiibo items are locked to designs. All of these are cute and you can tell I really like the pastel colour scheme as I used it again. The Splatoon outfit is a nod to all my Nintendo club friends who are obsessed with Splatoon 3 which I've never played. No idea what its like, something like a shooting game with colours haha. The Princess Peach look is a lovely girly look which is very pink and I was amazed to find items to match the colour tone perfectly.
