Animal Crossing New Horizons Play Journal - Adventures On Marzipan

Large group of Animal Crossing New Horizons screenshots coming your way! These are from February 2021 up until October 2021. I wasn't playing the game much in 2021 so I didn't have many screenshots from my adventures. Some months didn't even have any! Managed to group together a fair amount for this play journal. Starting off with my greatest achievement: catching a scorpion! This is actual quite silly now as I have stacks of these creatures in storage.

Looks like it was Bill's birthday in the game! He is one of my all time favourite villagers and was happy to attend his party. Doesn't Hamphrey look adorable there with this little glasses? Also finally learnt the signpost DIY and this was one of the main ones I wanted! Now I can put them all over my island! After this, I've included some snaps of my character walking around the island and being dramatic. The in-game emotions/poses are quite amusing and I wish you could save more to use. I reckon I haven't used most of them as I always forget to change my set ones.

November Favourites

Just another monthly favourites for today with November all done and dusted. I'm just ready for December to be over as well! We had Black Friday week just end and it wasn't too crazy this year. I think most people shopped early due to stock shortages or did it online. It was nice to have less customers around the place in the current times. The weather is finally warming up and it will be interesting to see how our first summer goes with wearing masks. Going to get better humid as well as they are predicting a wet summer and I feel the humidity a lot more with masks. I actually have to sew more masks as I've worn all mine out! The joy of wearing them 8 hours a day for work. Anyway enough chit-chat, onto what I've been enjoying this month.

Gaming

The new Animal Crossing Series 5 amiibo cards came out this month and whilst I did not get Dom the Sheep in any of my packs, my friend did! And she traded him with me! I'm so happy to finally have him in my town and I would've never thought it was possible. He is absolutely hilarious and fits in well with all my other sheep villagers. Gaming wise I've been playing a lot of the new New Horizons update as well as some 3DS.

In December, I am planning on doing a new Style Boutique outfit challenge series. I only really thought of it the other day and it will be pretty basic. But I thought it would be a fun way to end the year! So please keep an eye out for that soon!

Beauty

Managed to make it into a Priceline store this month! The store that was close to my work moved to the far end of the shopping centre so it wasn't as easy to get too. I visited the store in search of this specific palette which I hadn't been able to locate. Lucky this store had it and I finally own the Australis Barbie eyeshadow palette. Yes I mainly brought this just for the Barbie branding. I've actually been wearing eyeshadow a lot more recently and wanted to build up my collection. The colours in this palette are very pretty and I strangely like the brown tones more than the pink ones!

Animal Crossing New Horizons Play Journal - The Great Villager Move-Out

Isn't it exciting that Animal Crossing New Horizons will be getting an update? I'm super pumped for it when it occurs in November and I cannot wait! So today I thought it would be perfect for another New Horizons play journal! First off here is Bill who has decided to call Marzipan home and I love this duck so much. I had him in my town in the 3DS game and he was just the cutest! I'd never seen him before in Wild World and just knew I had to have him in New Horizons.

An amusing snapshot of Bob just chilling because that's what Bob does. His design is just perfect and he deserves all the popularity. I found him sitting in this random area of the island making this stare into the distance. I swear there are like 10 photos of this on my switch because I took so many haha. My SD card has so many dumb photos of Bob sitting around which I think is because he's so photogenic with his amusing faces.

Decided to move Annalise off my island as I wasn't that attached to her. Her design is adorable and one of my favourite horse villagers. I decided to let her leave so I could go villager hunting on the random islands and guess who I encountered whilst doing so? Only Annalise of course. I wish the game had some sort of function that didn't let villagers who have recently lived on your island appear. Like maybe have a memory of the last 5 or 10 to leave so you can discover new ones. When I used to play New Leaf, I never saw villagers repeat and that would be great in the switch version.

Animal Crossing New Horizons Play Journal - Artsy Villager Photos

Even though it is now Spring here, it's still winter in my Animal Crossing New Horizons play journals. These photos are from my backlog of snaps from the game during 2020 and I love looking back at them to see how much my island has changed. I thought we'd start off with two cute photos of my character chilling with the snowboy I just made. Get it? Chilling! I'll see myself out after that bad joke haha. The snowboys look amazing when the light catches their shadow like in this photo. I left this area open so I could have lots of space to create them. The second photo is of Eugene just being Eugene. I caught him staring out into the ocean and took this photo. I love when the villagers do this as it feels more unique than just running around like an aeroplane.

Opened up a new bridge on my island and this one is located by the Able Sisters. My great idea was the have a waterfall by the shop and I haven't done much else with it. It's a bit of a difficult area but I love this small river part where the bridge is by the waterfall that leads off from my house area. All the villagers came out for the bridge opening and today I only have 2 of these villagers left on my island. Amazing how many animals you can cycle through during the early parts of the game.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 82: Splatoon

I'm just looking at this outfit now to write this post and was thinking what on earth did I create? Then I remember the theme was Splatoon and it all makes sense now! It's just so all over the place colour wise this outfit when I saw it again but isn't that what Splatoon is about? Crazy colours all over the place and paint splatters! For this look, I just used the Inking leggings from Purple Moon and some Splatoon items I designed with the designs you unlock from the Splatoon amiibo in game. This T-Shirt is kinda cool, but I wish you could add more than two colours to it as you could come up with some awesome designs.

Revisiting My Styling Star Demo Review

It has been a year since I posted my review of the New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star Demo and almost a year since the game came out. I went back recently and read through my demo review and boy were my ideas and opinions on the game features and content different from the actual thing. I thought it would be interesting to revisit my review and look back at what I thought the game would be like compared to what it actually is. You can check out my original post of the Demo Review here to read about what I thought about it and it's a good idea to read that post before this one.

First off, the story of Styling Star. Now at first I was interested in the idol themed story line as Avex was advertised as involved in the development in the promotional material. Quite a large number of my J-Pop collection was released through Avex so I had high hopes for the content. The soundtrack wasn't a disappointment and there was a wide range of songs included in the final game. In my original post I talked about an in-depth story line which I felt the game had in the end. Just a bit too restricted. You don't get any of the fun side stories like the old Five Sisters ones from Fashion Forward and once you finish the main story line, nothing happens in the game. Besides Shopdo and doing outfit challenges, I'm pretty bored with the game lately as there is no challenge or story lies to complete. All the NPC's like Hafsa and Molly will not leave me alone! I complete their requests and story lines then they come straight back. I've skipped the game forward years and they are still the only customers I get. That is one of the main reasons I've lost interest in the game because beyond the main story line, the city and boutique isn't that engaging.

Avex delivered the goods soundtrack wise.

The men's fashion aspect of the game turned out a lot better than what I thought it would be. The male customers are limited to their own boutique and don't clog up my boutique like they used to in Trendsetters which drove me nuts. I worked at the Menswear Shop for a little while to earn money but haven't touched it since. The male clothing items are nice though, I wish we could get some of them for the female brands.

Originally I thought you wouldn't be able to change your assistant as that is what the demo stated but turns out you could once you completed the main story line. I'm yet to change mine so not something I've taken advantage of. I often dress my assistant up to match the interior of my boutique. I just wish you could change their appearance, I just really want to dye Sylvia's hair to match her outfits better.

The one time Sylvia's hair matched her outfit.

I talked about using the contact cards to check items that you previously sold to a customer and how I thought that was a great feature. Not gonna lie, I've actually never used it funnily enough. I do check the cards however to see what style the customers like to find the chic style ones. Sometimes I check the hearts but I've maxed out a large number of them so it doesn't really do anything.

Nails are a nice addition and one of the better new features of the game. Most of the time I use the french tip style ones from the basic category as they are the closest to my real life nails and look good with most outfits.

The nail set I wear like 85% of the time in Styling Star.

I'm always a fan of achievements and it was a pain to get some of them as I had no clue what they were. After doing some investigating on Japanese sites, I eventually worked out what I was missing. Yet to get the money ones but I cannot be bothered grinding to get those huge amounts and I do not have the time to do so. It's bad enough trying to get the Animal Crossing New Leaf badges.

Items wise I'm glad you can wear glasses and earrings together. Still a pain with scarfs and necklaces. Mainly because I want to be jerk and sell two items to one customer to earn more money haha. The headphones turned out to be for the Stage Dive brand as I thought plus April Bonbon. But they were quite limited with only a small selection available. The headphones also look quite similar in design and I would've liked to have seen some other styles like thinner or basic coloured ones.

Honestly what is this necklace design?

Recommendations from brand representatives turned out to be a dud. It only selects random items for you and if you keep pressing it, it will eventually select all the items. I thought it would be like limited edition items which the original game had but it wasn't sadly. Seriously Nintendo, why does the original DS game have better features like Limited Edition items and multiple mannequins yet the newer games don't.

In my original post I talked about the amazing online features and how we could visit other players boutiques. I feel like I don't need to talk about this because we all know about the dumb region locking feature. Turns out I cannot visit ALL players but I do enjoy updating my Shopdo though. Plus for that and minus for the complete lack of local multiplayer.

A recent Shopdo outfit which I loved.

Designer Item - Kirby One-Up Tee

Just a simple item for this weeks Designer Item. This was a design I created for an amiibo guide a little while back. It uses the Kirby One-Up design which is unlockable via a kirby amiibo. Thank heavens for all my friends owning all the amiibos so it was super easy to unlock all of these. The design is pretty simple, I just went with a basic grey colour tee with a pink kirby on the front. I'd totally wear this in real life if it existed as it looks pretty comfy.

Animal Crossing New Leaf Play Journal - Celebrations & Haircuts

Even though I haven't had much time to play Animal Crossing New Leaf recently, I've managed to save enough pictures to share another play journal. First off, here is my character doing some fishing with Pudge. Isn't he the cutest bear you've ever seen? He isn't too good at fishing unfortunately.

It was Pudge's birthday recently so I thought I would give him a fish as a birthday present. Or more like that was the only item I had on me that I was willing to give him when I visited his house for his birthday. He seemed a bit confused at the concept of an eel haha.

Found Dotty sitting on the tree log and having a little snooze one night. It's adorable when villagers use the seats around town. I love catching them having a nap! I only really keep this log seat around for the villagers to chill out on.

Here is Bill's classic line of claiming to always be working out. Like what else would you be doing Bill? He's one of my favourite villagers in the game. I had him in my town years ago, but he moved out when I stopped playing. Managed to trade for his amiibo card off someone in New Zealand as I wanted his card in my collection. Then when the feature got added to move in villager via scanning them in, I moved him in straight away!

Designer Item - Yoshi Logo Tee

Here is one of my latest creations in the Design Centre that I thought I would share. This weeks item is a cute tee featuring the Yoshi emblem! This emblem can only be unlocked using a Yoshi amiibo in Styling Star and can be used on various designer items. I rarely use the emblems but thought it would be cute to create a logo tee featuring one of the amiibo emblems. The t-shirt design options are quite lacklustre in Styling Star, so I just went with a simple design with pink and green colours to match the emblem colours.

Winter Lookbook

Winter is a time for dressing up in warm jumpers, scarfs and fluffy beanies. New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star has an excellent range of clothes that are perfect for the cooler months. I've put together this lookbook featuring outfits from all the fashion styles in the game that designed for Winter. There's even some special outfits featuring removed brands and designer items. In case you aren't quite ready for winter, why not check out my Autumn Lookbook!

Lively
April Bonbon features some crazy looking fluffy rainbow jackets which are new items to the brand. I thought this jacket would be the perfect item for winter and designed this casual outfit for the lookbook. This outfit is ideal of catching a movie or hanging out at a friends place. I was always quite a fan of these pants in Fashion Forward and they matched the jacket quite well.

Eastern
This style features a more refined and sophisticated look for the season. It took a few tries to find an eastern outfit I was happy with and ended up with this one. It features my favourite boots from Kanokoi and a long length jacket. I think darker tones work best in eastern style outfits as it's easy to find pieces that coordinate together.

Basic
This style for me in winter months is all about layers! I pretty much just chuck as many items on as I can sell or wear. Here's the combination I came up with for the lookbook and this is actually a copy of an outfit I recently sold to a customer. The skirt is actually a overall item from the dress category and all the items feature a brown colour scheme.

Animal Crossing New Leaf Play Journal - Bubbles & Badges

I've been playing a little Animal Crossing New Leaf recently so it's time for a play journal about my adventures in the game. Firstly Canberra wanted to move out of my town so I stopped her from doing it as she's one of my favourites. A villager told me she was thinking of moving so I kept walking past her to try to get the ping thing so she'd ask for permission. After about two days, I finally got the ping action and I got her to stay in Sunbury.

I don't really use streetpass anymore in ACNL as I have the highest streetpass badge so I don't need them that much. But I took a trip to the Happy Home Showcase recently to see what was new and came across this cute snowman themed room. Streetpass is quite common where I live so you can always come across amazing houses from players.

Picked up a bubble blower accessory at the Happy Home plaza so then I just ran around my town blowing bubbles everywhere! Here's some pictures of my character at some of the town project locations around my town. I will do a town projects post soon as I have a large amount in my town. You can always visit my town at the Dream Address 7A00-004D-AD3C from the Dream Suite.

30 Day Outfit Challenge Day 27: Nintendo

Another cosplay style day with the theme being 'Dress up as a Nintendo character'. Now I'm sad that amiibos no longer unlock unique clothing items and only do designs/emblems now, but it's great that old amiibos items are available from Purple Moon. So I took advantage of that and created this Mario cosplay using the M Hat and one of the Mario T-shirt designs from the Mario amiibo. Somehow managed to find a pair of pants that almost matched the colour of the t-shirt which was a miracle. I didn't add a moustache on my character as I thought I would create a feminine inspired Mario cosplay that would be wearable as an everyday outfit. It turned out quite well and I hope if Nintendo adds more amiibo items into the next game that maybe Mario's item could be the overalls.

30 Day Outfit Challenge Day 26: Pastels

Are pastels still a fashion trend? I feel like they are because whenever I walk past fashion stores here like Valleygirl and Forever New, they're always full of pastel clothes but ugly tones of pastel. I wish shops stocked more nice pastels of colours like blue and lilac instead of orange and yellow.

Anyway, the theme for day 26 was 'Pretty Pastels' which simply means to create an outfit featuring a pastel colour palette. I ended up doing some designing and created this adorable pastel coloured tee with the Animal Crossing design that unlocks when you scan in Animal Crossing amiibos or cards. The design is cute and I used a blue and pink palette as I love wearing those colours together. I paired the shirt with some pink and white colour items and a cute rainbow bracelet.

Animal Crossing New Leaf Play Journal - Back To Work

So I've picked up playing Animal Crossing New Leaf again. When the game first came out, I played it every day for a very long time and then like all Animal Crossing games before New Leaf, I had to quit because I was addicted. It's still listed as my top played game on my 3DS! But I decided to pick it up recently because of the amiibo update that happened a while ago and my town is pretty much the same. Same old boring villagers live in it and not all my dreamies I had once upon a time. I like how you can use the NFC reader and amiibo cards to get villagers to move into your town now. Here's some quick pictures of what my town Sunbury looks like.

My house is pretty boring. Mainly designed around the colour pink the main room and then themed rooms in all the others. I recently re did one as a shop which I liked the final product of and some of the items you can order from the campground fitted the theme quite nicely.

Whilst cleaning out the streetpass houses, I came across the coolest Nintendo themed furniture! I have no clue how to get it but omg that chair is amazing. And the same person had some Hello Kitty themed furniture which was totally adorable and I know I will never have because I don't have the Sanrio amiibo cards.

I need these!!

Built some new town projects recently including the tower which I had been waiting forever for a villager to request. I have the perfect spot for it and lucky no one had their house there at the time. Also built a hammock which I'm still working on designing the landscape around it. I wish the game didn't have limits on how close you can plant things because that always messes up my plans.

Mayor sleeping on the job.
