I'm just looking at this outfit now to write this post and was thinking what on earth did I create? Then I remember the theme was Splatoon and it all makes sense now! It's just so all over the place colour wise this outfit when I saw it again but isn't that what Splatoon is about? Crazy colours all over the place and paint splatters! For this look, I just used the Inking leggings from Purple Moon and some Splatoon items I designed with the designs you unlock from the Splatoon amiibo in game. This T-Shirt is kinda cool, but I wish you could add more than two colours to it as you could come up with some awesome designs.

100 Outfit Challenge Day 78: Stripes
Another pattern themed day for Day 78 and I've gone with one of my own creations. This is a dress I made very early on in the game for the Design Centre. It's a pretty basic design where I just went with pastel tones and stripes for the pattern. I feel like the design options are very limited in Styling Star and the areas you can colour are too restrictive. It's annoying how I can't choose what colours I want where or choose different tones for the motifs. I feel games I played back in the day like flash or Barbie PC games had more design selections. I've got this dress available for download on the Design Centre if you are from the EUR/AUS region and you can find my post about it here!

100 Outfit Challenge Day 6: Another Players Design
Instead of making an outfit based off of one of my own designs in Styling Star, I thought I'd go with trying out another player's design. Now I downloaded this t-shirt and shoes way back when the game came out so I have no clue where it came from. But I totally love it and the designer is obviously very talented. Way more than me as designing items has never been my strong point in the game. I have a bunch listed on my Designer Items Page but they're pretty basic designs or amiibo ones. Anyway I do love this nautical style design and it worked perfectly with this shorts from Chorale. I used to use these shorts all the time in Fashion Forward but kinda became bored of them in Styling Star. They did however match the t-shirt for this outfit so I thought it was time to put them to use once more.

Designer Item - La Polka
Time to share one of my Designer Item creations I made in New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star. I present the La Polka set which features stunning neon colours and will dazzle all. I thought about going the neon route for a design and experimented with different colours until I found some that worked well together. So that's how I came up with this colour palette which is generally the same colours I tend to use a lot in designer items as the shades work well on the limited design items available.

Designer Item - Rainbow Circus
It's been ages since I've posted a designer item from Styling Star on Marzipan Wonderland. I did actually make a bunch of new designs ages ago and thought it was finally time post some of them. First off is this Rainbow Circus outfit set which I'm in love with. The colour palette is bursting with colour and features some beautiful pastel tones. I've really been into pastel things lately and that was the main inspiration for this look.

Revisiting My Styling Star Demo Review
It has been a year since I posted my review of the New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star Demo and almost a year since the game came out. I went back recently and read through my demo review and boy were my ideas and opinions on the game features and content different from the actual thing. I thought it would be interesting to revisit my review and look back at what I thought the game would be like compared to what it actually is. You can check out my original post of the Demo Review here to read about what I thought about it and it's a good idea to read that post before this one.
First off, the story of Styling Star. Now at first I was interested in the idol themed story line as Avex was advertised as involved in the development in the promotional material. Quite a large number of my J-Pop collection was released through Avex so I had high hopes for the content. The soundtrack wasn't a disappointment and there was a wide range of songs included in the final game. In my original post I talked about an in-depth story line which I felt the game had in the end. Just a bit too restricted. You don't get any of the fun side stories like the old Five Sisters ones from Fashion Forward and once you finish the main story line, nothing happens in the game. Besides Shopdo and doing outfit challenges, I'm pretty bored with the game lately as there is no challenge or story lies to complete. All the NPC's like Hafsa and Molly will not leave me alone! I complete their requests and story lines then they come straight back. I've skipped the game forward years and they are still the only customers I get. That is one of the main reasons I've lost interest in the game because beyond the main story line, the city and boutique isn't that engaging.
The men's fashion aspect of the game turned out a lot better than what I thought it would be. The male customers are limited to their own boutique and don't clog up my boutique like they used to in Trendsetters which drove me nuts. I worked at the Menswear Shop for a little while to earn money but haven't touched it since. The male clothing items are nice though, I wish we could get some of them for the female brands.
Originally I thought you wouldn't be able to change your assistant as that is what the demo stated but turns out you could once you completed the main story line. I'm yet to change mine so not something I've taken advantage of. I often dress my assistant up to match the interior of my boutique. I just wish you could change their appearance, I just really want to dye Sylvia's hair to match her outfits better.
I talked about using the contact cards to check items that you previously sold to a customer and how I thought that was a great feature. Not gonna lie, I've actually never used it funnily enough. I do check the cards however to see what style the customers like to find the chic style ones. Sometimes I check the hearts but I've maxed out a large number of them so it doesn't really do anything.
Nails are a nice addition and one of the better new features of the game. Most of the time I use the french tip style ones from the basic category as they are the closest to my real life nails and look good with most outfits.
I'm always a fan of achievements and it was a pain to get some of them as I had no clue what they were. After doing some investigating on Japanese sites, I eventually worked out what I was missing. Yet to get the money ones but I cannot be bothered grinding to get those huge amounts and I do not have the time to do so. It's bad enough trying to get the Animal Crossing New Leaf badges.
Items wise I'm glad you can wear glasses and earrings together. Still a pain with scarfs and necklaces. Mainly because I want to be jerk and sell two items to one customer to earn more money haha. The headphones turned out to be for the Stage Dive brand as I thought plus April Bonbon. But they were quite limited with only a small selection available. The headphones also look quite similar in design and I would've liked to have seen some other styles like thinner or basic coloured ones.
Recommendations from brand representatives turned out to be a dud. It only selects random items for you and if you keep pressing it, it will eventually select all the items. I thought it would be like limited edition items which the original game had but it wasn't sadly. Seriously Nintendo, why does the original DS game have better features like Limited Edition items and multiple mannequins yet the newer games don't.
In my original post I talked about the amazing online features and how we could visit other players boutiques. I feel like I don't need to talk about this because we all know about the dumb region locking feature. Turns out I cannot visit ALL players but I do enjoy updating my Shopdo though. Plus for that and minus for the complete lack of local multiplayer.

Designer Item - Wonderland Set
I finally return with a new designer item! This week's item is a beautiful gown and shoes themed around Alice In Wonderland. For the base, I went with a blue tone to symbolise Alice's dress and the trims and flowers are black and red to match the Card Soliders. The set comes with some stylish black pumps to match the darker tones of the dress. The main inspiration for this dress was the aesthetics of Alice In Wonderland as I find the original costume designs and illustrations quite fascinating. I've always been a fan of any outfit based around the story so I tried to create my own interpretation of it.

Designer Item - Kirby One-Up Tee
Just a simple item for this weeks Designer Item. This was a design I created for an amiibo guide a little while back. It uses the Kirby One-Up design which is unlockable via a kirby amiibo. Thank heavens for all my friends owning all the amiibos so it was super easy to unlock all of these. The design is pretty simple, I just went with a basic grey colour tee with a pink kirby on the front. I'd totally wear this in real life if it existed as it looks pretty comfy.

Designer Item - Bboom Bboom
Here's the new designer item for this week which is a stage costume set. This is the outfit I gave Yolanda to wear during the performance in the main story line. It was originally called Dreaming Moon but I gave it the title Bboom Bboom for the Design Centre. Not sure why, must've been inspired by MOMOLAND that day. For the design, I went with a purple inspired colour scheme as I felt purple was Yolanda's colour in the game. Plus the purple looks gorgeous in the bodice part of the costume and gives off a glitter appearance. Like I've mentioned previously in other designer item posts, I really wish you could change the colour of the yellow parts. The yellow just looks bad with some colour combinations. Just make it part of the sleeve colour section or something, I'm just sick of the yellow.

Designer Item - Coco Parade
Here's the new designer item for this week. This is actually one of the first items I designed in Styling Star to test out the design feature. I was surprised at how limited the designer options where when I first used the feature compared to the variety available in Fashion Forward. I made this dress to test out the colour palettes and patterns and went for a pastel colour scheme. The title Coco Parade is after the name of my boutique in the game which is called CocoPuri.

Designer Item - Candy Cane
I present to you the only dress you need for the festive season! Yes I know it's a bit early for Christmas but Christmas in July is totally a thing right? So here is this yummy candy cane themed dress I have available at the Design Centre. I created this dress a while ago because I felt like making a food themed dress. The limited design features worked for this design as it doesn't require much to look like a candy cane. I do wish you could change the colour of the yellow tassels though as I would've preferred them in another colour.

Designer Item - Yoshi Logo Tee
Here is one of my latest creations in the Design Centre that I thought I would share. This weeks item is a cute tee featuring the Yoshi emblem! This emblem can only be unlocked using a Yoshi amiibo in Styling Star and can be used on various designer items. I rarely use the emblems but thought it would be cute to create a logo tee featuring one of the amiibo emblems. The t-shirt design options are quite lacklustre in Styling Star, so I just went with a simple design with pink and green colours to match the emblem colours.

Designer Item - Chocolate Banana
Starting a new series of blog posts here on Marzipan Wonderland where I share a new item I've designed in Styling Star. I haven't posted much about designing items on this blog so I thought it would be fun to post a item I've created. All the items I'll post on here are available to download from the Design Centre for players with New Style Boutique 3 (EUR/AUS Region).
Here's the first item to start off my collection! Recently I created this stage costume called Chocolate Banana. Originally I was going for a brown colour scheme with the outfit, but I selected this yellow colour which reminded me of bananas. Hence the word in the name. The rest of the outfit stayed a brown tone to give the appearance of chocolate. You can download Chocolate Banana at the following details:

Winter Lookbook
Winter is a time for dressing up in warm jumpers, scarfs and fluffy beanies. New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star has an excellent range of clothes that are perfect for the cooler months. I've put together this lookbook featuring outfits from all the fashion styles in the game that designed for Winter. There's even some special outfits featuring removed brands and designer items. In case you aren't quite ready for winter, why not check out my Autumn Lookbook!
Lively
April Bonbon features some crazy looking fluffy rainbow jackets which are new items to the brand. I thought this jacket would be the perfect item for winter and designed this casual outfit for the lookbook. This outfit is ideal of catching a movie or hanging out at a friends place. I was always quite a fan of these pants in Fashion Forward and they matched the jacket quite well.
Eastern
This style features a more refined and sophisticated look for the season. It took a few tries to find an eastern outfit I was happy with and ended up with this one. It features my favourite boots from Kanokoi and a long length jacket. I think darker tones work best in eastern style outfits as it's easy to find pieces that coordinate together.
Basic
This style for me in winter months is all about layers! I pretty much just chuck as many items on as I can sell or wear. Here's the combination I came up with for the lookbook and this is actually a copy of an outfit I recently sold to a customer. The skirt is actually a overall item from the dress category and all the items feature a brown colour scheme.

25 Day Outfit Challenge Day 15: Featuring Your Design
I did a similar outfit in my 30 Day Outfit Challenge so this time I picked a different designer item for today's theme. This outfit is actually a copy of a design I did back in Fashion Forward as a commission item. Here is the original design which was a sleeveless dress featuring a red flower design. I loved that dress so much that remember actually selling all 10 copies of the dress at my boutique and I normally didn't sell commission items that much.
So here is the new version of my dress. Looks pretty much identical and this time, I designed some shoes to go with the dress. The photo shoot took place at the Meadows of course because of all the flowers. Added the rose hair clip from Purple Moon as it was perfect for this outfit. I couldn't add a necklace unfortunately as whenever I tried to add one, the game would remove my dress. I guess you can't wear a designed dress with neck items.

25 Day Outfit Challenge Day 1: Pop Idol
First outfit of the new challenge! The theme for today was Pop Idol and I decided to be boring for this first one and just wear one of the stage outfits I designed. This wasn't one of the ones I made for the main story line, but one I made randomly one day. The outfit features a cute hot pink colour scheme and a heart pattern. The name for the outfit is Highschool☆love which was inspired by the E-girls song of the same name. I was inspired by their pink racer style outfits in the MV and the heart symbol in the song name. I didn't use the actual heart in the name as it wasn't available so I went with a star instead.
The outfit is available to download at the Design Centre if you play Style Boutique! The item ID is 0000091331 and comes with all the items in the set.

Style Boutique 3 Play Journal: Everything Keeps Repeating
Time for another play journal since I haven't posted one for a while. First off, I just have to say that I'm really annoyed at the game because of the repeating story lines. The side story lines from the main story line like Molly and Hafsa keep reappearing for me. Even if I finish them, the story line just starts again. I've had them occur four times now! And if I don't do the story line, the girls just stand in my boutique forever and no other customers come in. I've progress at least two years into the game and now that's all I'm getting. Now I remember this is just the reason why I stopped playing New Style Boutique (Trendsetters). It was because I couldn't get anyone else to visit my boutique. I haven't had a customer that wasn't a story line girl for a long time. It just really annoys me that I can't get normal customers anymore and kinda ruins the game for me.
Negative points aside, I invited Janice over to the boutique recently for a new outfit. Sending her a message was the only way to get someone different at the boutique. I created this stylish preppy outfit for her themed around the Flight Attendant top from Purple Moon.

30 Day Outfit Challenge Day 28: Designer Item
One of the features of Style Boutique is the ability to design your own clothing items. Whilst the item selection has been cut down in Styling Star, there are quite a few items to design. I haven't designed too many items and it's something I really need to spend more time on. But there is this one outfit I created that is my favourite one, so that's the outfit that I wore for today's theme of 'Showcase your favourite Designer item'. The outfit is one of the stage costumes and it features a cute pastel pink and yellow colour theme. I just loved how the tones complimented each other and the skirt part of the dress is just gorgeous.
If you would like to download this outfit, it is available from the Designer Centre at the Item ID: 0009601303. Remember that online content in Styling Star is region locked, so only players from the Europe/Australia region who play Style Boutique can download the item.
