E-girls E.G. Crazy - Album Review (Limited Edition 2CD+3DVD+Photobook Edition)

Most people may have to think about what their favourite album of all time is. For me, it's an easy answer: E-girls 2015 double-album E.G. Crazy. It's by far the best album of all time for myself and all the tracks are perfect. A few months ago I got my hands on the 2CD+3DVD edition from Japan so I thought it was time for a review of the album and it's contents.

2CD+3DVD+Photobook Edition of E.G. Crazy

E.G. Crazy is the fourth album released by the Japanese girl group E-girls. It was released in 2015 and comes in five editions: 2CD+3Bluray, 2CD+3DVD, 2CD+Bluray, 2CD+DVD and 2CD. The 2CD+3Bluray &  2CD+3DVD editions come in a special package with a photobook containing photos from the E-girls LIVE TOUR 2016 ~E.G. SMILE~. I originally only owned the album via iTunes but purchased a used copy of the 2CD+3DVD edition from Zenmarket. This edition comes with the following contents:
  • 2CD - 24 Track Album
  • 3DVD - 9 MV's, E-girls LIVE TOUR 2016 ~E.G. SMILE~ & Documentary Movie
  • 120-paged Photobook
  • Special Box Packaging
  • OBI
  • Lyrics Booklet
  • Information Leaflets

Special packaging for E.G. Crazy
The CD's and DVD's are split into two DVD cases with both having the same cover as the box packaging. The CD one contains the two discs of the album. The tracks are split into two discs by music style: E.G. POP and E.G. Cool. The POP disc contains fun tracks such as Anniversary, Merry x Merry Xmas and Party In The Sun whilst the COOL disc contains more dance style tracks such as  Bad Girls, Dance Dance Dance and Pink Champagne. You get a lyrics booklet containing all the lyrics and information about the disc contents. There was also some information leaflets in my copy of the album. The discs are held in place with your usual dual DVD case insert and they are held in place quite well. Sometimes this type of insert can be hit or miss, I often get broken ones in my DVD cases.

E.G. Crazy CD's
The DVD case is similar to the CD one but doesn't come with any booklets or leaflets. There are 3 DVD's in the album: Disc 3 is the Music Videos and Disc 4 and 5 are the E-girls LIVE TOUR 2016 ~E.G. SMILE~ & Documentary Movie. The packaging of this edition of the album is quite good as the cases slip easily into the box packaging along with the photobook.

Inside the DVD case
Photobook time and it's a massive 120 pages! It contains individual pictures of all 19 members who took part in the album production. I quite liked Yurino's individual photo, that would be my favourite of the set. The photobook also contains high quality photos of the group's LIVE TOUR 2016 ~E.G. SMILE~. It's a nice addition to go along with the concert on the DVD. The photos are gorgeous as they give you an up-close look at the spectacular costumes of the girls.

Time for the review of the tracks on the album and all I can say is that this is my all time favourite album. I just love all the tracks on it and always find myself going back to listen to this album at least twice a week. It's not very often I find albums where I love all the tracks, it's quite rare actually. If I had to pick my top five tracks from the album, I'd pick: Bad Girls, DANCE WITH ME NOW, Dance Dance Dance, Saturday Night &  STRAWBERRY Sadistic.

Here is a complete list of the songs on E.G. Crazy:

Onto the DVD content now and boy is there a lot of it. The first DVD of the set (Disc 3) contains the music video's of some of the songs on the album. Some of the music videos included had previously been released on E.G. SMILE, but were also included on this release. The album includes nine music videos and I'd have to say that I don't have a stand out favourite as they are all pretty good. I wish the STRAWBERRY Sadistic one had some sort of subtitle to follow along the story line of the MV. DANCE WITH ME NOW has a nice throwback to the groups seifuku dances.

  1. Anniversary!! (Music Video)
  2. Dance Dance Dance (Music Video)
  3. Merry×Merry Xmas★ (Music Video)
  4. DANCE WITH ME NOW! (Music Video)
  5. E.G. summer RIDER (Music Video)
  6. Pink Champagne (Music Video)
  7. STRAWBERRY Sadistic (Music Video) (STRAWBERRY サディスティック)
  8. Go! Go! Let's Go! (Music Video)
  9. All Day Long Lady (Music Video)

The last two DVD's (Disc 4 and 5) contain the E-girls LIVE TOUR 2016 ~E.G. SMILE~ & Documentary Movie. This was the first full E-girls concert I had watched and it was an amazing experience. The concert was lively, energetic and had a stunning array of costumes and outfits. I enjoyed the documentary movie even though it had no subtitles as it was nice to see the group travel around Japan performing and discussions from the group's members. The concert included on the DVD was filmed at Saitama Super Arena in 2016 and most of the concert is on Disc 4. Disc 5 contains the four encore tracks and the documentary movie.

Set list of the concert

I'm over the moon to have the 2DVD+3DVD+Photobook edition of E.G. Crazy in my collection. I never would've dreamed of owning it a while ago because the retail price of it is quite steap. But lucky I was able to find it quite cheap in a set with the limited editions of E.G. Time and E.G. SMILE. Highly recommend checking out this album if you like dance style pop music and fun upbeat tracks. It is available on Spotify if you are more of a digital music person or physical copies of the single are still in print on various online Japanese Music sites.

I shall finish this review off with the MV's from the album. I've posted them all below except Pink Champagne & Dance Dance Dance which Blogger wouldn't link for some reason. So click on the song title to check those ones out and the rest are posted below for your enjoyment :)
