Today's cosplay is another character I've actually cosplayed in real life and that's Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls. I thought this would be a great character to cosplay to make use of one of the quirky jumpers from April Bonbon. The first post on this blog was actually a tutorial to make Mabel's rainbow jumper and you can find that here! I originally had the tutorial up on my old blogger but I took it down many years ago so I reuploaded it when I started this blog.
I thought this cosplay turned out super cute! The countryside was the perfect shoot location for the photo shoot to bring out the bright colours in the outfit. I used one of these silly jumpers from April Bonbon with the silly face on it. These jumpers have been in the game forever, I just rarely use them.

Mabel Pines Sweater Tutorial
Here's a little tutorial on how to
make Mabel Pines' Shooting Star Rainbow sweater from the cartoon Gravity Falls. This is a easy project that would be
ideal for a beginner cosplayer or anyone wanting to practice hand sewing. The
entire design can be sewn on by hand and it takes about 1 to 2 hours to make,
depending on how quick of a sewer you are.
Materials:
Materials:
- Pink sweater or jumper
- Felt in yellow, green, purple & orange.
- Thread in yellow, green, purple & orange.
- Optional: backing for the shapes.
How to make it:
- Download the star & rainbow template here.
- Cut out the star template & cut the rainbow template into the three different sections.
- Place the templates on the following colours: Star=Yellow, Piece A= Purple, Piece B= Green & Piece C= Orange.
- Cut out the pieces. You can leave some extra material on some of the pieces if you want them to overlap each other.
- Arrange the pieces into the shooting star design on the sweater. A good place is just above the middle. Once you are happy with their placement, pin the pieces down. Optional: place backing on the inside of the sweater to reinforce the design.
- Sew the pieces in place starting with the purple piece. After that, sew on the green & orange pieces. The star is the last piece to be sewn on.
- Pop on your brand new sweater & solve some mysteries!
