BLACKPINK 2nd Mini Album KILL THIS LOVE - Album Review (Pink Ver.)

Back for another BLACKPINK review with the pink version of their 2nd Mini. I reviewed the black version earlier and it feels so fulfilling when you have a complete set of an album. I don't achieve it often with Korean releases as there is usually a few editions and can be a pricey endeavour. Plus the groups I usually collect didn't do multiple versions. BLACKPINK is one of the few groups where I have complete sets which is only their mini albums but I'm calling that a success.

KILL THIS LOVE is the 2nd Mini Album from Korean girl group BLACKPINK and it was released on April 23rd 2019. The mini album was released in two versions: Black and Pink. Both versions were easy to find through JB Hi-Fi and I purchased them a few years ago. The thing I love about this mini album is that it sits nicely on the shelf and the box is great for holding all the extras inside. Usually I'm not a big fan of box style albums however this one works great. The contents of this mini album are as follows:

  • CD - 5 track mini album
  • Outer Box
  • 52 page Photobook
  • Photozine
  • Accordion Lyrics booklet
  • Photocards (Random 4 out of 16)
  • Polaroid Photocard (Random 1 out of 8)
  • Stickers (Set of 6)
  • Poster (Random 1 out of 4)

BLACKPINK 2nd Mini Album KILL THIS LOVE - Album Review (Black Ver.)

BLACKPINK is a group that I casually collect much like TWICE. Their releases are easy to purchase at local music stores so I tend to pick them up if the price is good. A few years ago I ended up collecting both versions of their 2nd Mini Album KILL THIS LOVE and that is what we will be looking at today. And lots of lovely photos are included as you get some great inclusions with this release.

KILL THIS LOVE is the 2nd Mini Album from Korean girl group BLACKPINK and it was released on April 23rd 2019. The mini album was released in two versions: Black and Pink. I brought both versions from JB HiFi where I found one colour at my local store and after ringing around, I found the other colour at a nearby store. This mini album has a large number of contents which are as follows:
  • CD - 5 track mini album
  • Outer Box
  • 52 page Photobook
  • Photozine
  • Accordion Lyrics booklet
  • Photocards (Random 4 out of 16)
  • Polaroid Photocard (Random 1 out of 8)
  • Stickers (Set of 6)
  • Poster (Random 1 out of 4)

May Favourites

This month was meant to be the last month of Autumn however the weather has been more like winter. It rains pretty much everyday now and is quite heavy at night. I don't recall it ever raining this much years prior. The rain is nice though but my raincoat is getting worn out and I haven't found a replacement yet. The brand is no longer around and it is the perfect coat so I shall continue wearing it till I find a suitable replacement. Had some time off this month which has been lovely and great to have a short break from work. Been filling my spare time with random activities, one of which I shall mention later!

Beauty

For the last few months, I've been on the fence about getting a particular eyeshadow palette from Sportsgirl. The other day I finally gave in and brought it along with a bunch of other items. I used to wear mostly Sportsgirl branded makeup when I was a teenager so it seemed like a good idea to try it again. I saw this Sweet Sorbet palette on their website and fell in love. However I could never find it at my local Sportsgirl and all the other stores in my state were sold out. This site had 20% off your first order and that seemed like the best time to finally buy it. It is just my style with colourful pastel tones and some gorgeous shimmers. Kind of reminds me of the Winx palette from Colourpop and whilst not a direct dupe, it has some similar colour stories. Haven't tried it out just yet as I haven't had a chance to wear eyeshadow but it swatches amazingly. Also brought two lip glosses as I'm lip gloss obsessed and the one named Y2K is perfect. I just checked the site and looks like it is sold out as I couldn't find it listed anymore.

Music

Had bit of random K-pop purchase this month with this single album from Jisoo. I saw it at JB Hi-Fi before briefly forgetting about it. Then brought it a few days later when I remembered about it. Absolutely stunning and she is one of my biases so it was lovely to get the photobook of her. I only found the red version and I'd have to look around if other stores have the black version.

K-Pop Haul - TWICE, BLACKPINK, MOMOLAND & DreamNote

Rounded up all my recent K-Pop purchases for a haul post! I brought these gems over the course of the last few months and thought I had a good amount to share on the blog. All of these CD's were brought from JBHIFI apart from DreamNote which I got from eBay. Here are all the beauties that I added to my collection!

First up is TWICE's 9th Mini Album 'More & More' in the B Version. Both this and the MOMOLAND album were special order items from JBHIFI, so the version you get is entirely random. I'm always happy with TWICE releases though as they have stunning photobooks and a wealth of photocards! The for the CD, I got Sana's which is gorgeous and I've included a photo of all the photocards I got. Can't believe this release had 100 photocards you could get! I can't imagine the pain collectors have to go through to get their faves.

Now onto DreamNote's 2nd Single 'Dream:us' which I brought from Korea on eBay. I'd been looking at getting this single for a while as I love the aesthetics and concept of the single design. I already had DreamNote's first single 'Dreamlike' which is another beautifully designed single. Plus I really like the songs on this single and look at how many photocards you get! Seems there are 22 to collect for this single and you get 4 each time, so it wouldn't take too long to collect them if there's a few fans around. I'm not sure if DreamNote is popular or not, I think they are cute and like buying their releases to support them.

Back to the JBHIFI purchases with MOMOLAND's special album 'Starry Night'. It seems like forever since I brought a new MOMOLAND release. It's weird to think I used to collect them all the time and then just stopped. I think once Daisy left and the group lost momentum, I kinda lost interest in getting their releases before others. Starry Night is a nice release and has some lovely photos of the girls. And it's nice to see a different shaped MOMOLAND Korean release for once after those giant albums we had for a while. I got a Nancy photocard which is great as I don't have too many of hers but I would've loved to have gotten Ahin's as I usually got hers.

Got two more BLACKPINK items for the collection! Amazingly I have quite a few releases from this group which is mainly because it's the only girl group JBHIFI stocks on a regular basis. I pre-ordered the 'How You Like That' single and you get quite a few posters with this release! This single is huge and is by far the tallest K-Pop release I own. The photobook is quite nice but not my favourite from the group. The other BLACKPINK release I got is the standard version of their first album 'The Album'. I did originally want to get one of the other versions when they first announced them but each album was $99 at the store. So I decided to pass as you can get them way cheaper online and it would've an expensive exercise to collect all the versions. Lucky for me, a standard CD only version was released shortly after and I even got it during the 20% music sale so it was even cheaper!

Seems my photocard box is getting quite full! It's pretty much reached the top after this haul. I just use this mirror jewellery box to store any photocards that will fit. I have more around the place that are too large and I usually keep those with their corresponding releases. I'm not planning on buying anymore Asian pop CD's in the next few months so at least it won't over flow soon.

January Favourites

I feel like nothing happened this month because I was sick for most of it and could barely post on here. There is a bunch of posts lined up that I need to finish and post, but at least I finally got the Streetflow Guide up this month for the Style Boutique series. I will be posting some more glam/flirty and sporty item guides either next month or in March. Now onto the favourites for January!

Gaming
Finally brought a Nintendo Switch this month as I'm getting hyped for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It looks super cute so far and I'm interested to see how much customisation is allowed with things such as landscaping and furniture. Also the character designs look great and we are getting much cuter noses for once. Been playing a mixture of games this month such as Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, Sims 4 and Minecraft. Picked up Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp a bit more as the recent events have been fun and after a billion years, I decorated my campsite properly! Here's a adorable picture from my campsite!

Music
Nowadays I've been listening to random stuff in my collection usually in my car. I just put a bunch of songs on the USB and play them so I remember songs I've totally forgot about. The main songs I've been playing this month are some classics from the 1990's. Been super into the Night At The Roxbury soundtrack as it's my favourite movie and it has the best soundtrack. Also whilst having a 90's/early 2000's binge on Youtube, I came across 'This Is How We Party' by S.O.A.P. which I had totally forgotten about since the 1990's! I've brought one of their singles off ebay so I'm excited for that to come. Totally need to do a big CD Haul post soon as I've picked up a number of albums from various stores over the recent weeks. Most are western releases so no K-Pop or J-Pop stuff apart from one Blackpink album. Yes I finally found the black version of their 1st Mini Album - Square Up at a JB Hi-Fi store! My normal store only had the pink ones but I found the black one at another store nearby. So somehow I've ended up with all of Blackpinks physical Korean mini albums, not sure how that happened as it's never been something I've intended to do. I do however enjoy their mini album designs and all the goodies you get with it.

To round off this favourites post as there isn't much else to share, I'll just post a bunch of songs I've been jamming to this month. Jeez I miss the 1990's and early 2000's when music was so much better. I just don't get the current music trends and can't really get into anything new. I'll get new stuff from my favourite bands like The Living End and Kaiser Chiefs but even with them I prefer their older stuff.

JB Hi-Fi Haul - Blackpink, Girls Generation & TWICE

Over the last few months, I've picked up a few K-Pop releases at a local entertainment retailer here in Australia. JB Hi-Fi has starting stocking a small range of Korean releases this year due to the popularity of the genre in the west. It's mainly boy groups honestly as all I really see are BTS and GOT7 in most stores. Blackpink is the only girl group I've seen the most so I brought all their releases I could source as well as some TWICE and Girls Generation which I had to order in.

First off is TWICE's 7th Mini Album - Fancy You which I got in Type C as it was only available as a random cover. Would've loved to have gotten all three versions but I don't think the supplier was thinking the same as me and all the copies that my store got in were all Type C. I can totally see why people like collection TWICE releases as you get so many goodies! I love the range of photocards and whilst I'm not a huge collector, it was amazing getting five cards in one mini album. The main one I wanted to get was a Jihyo card which I did happen to get so yay. The Fancy You mini album is huge and I was quite surprised at how large the photobook is. I have to store it with my Japanese magazines and books as it won't fit in my usual K-pop storage area.
