July Favourites

Almost to the end of winter! It actually hasn't been a cold winter until the last week or two. It's been quite cold and everyone has been commenting on it. I feel like July was such a waste for myself as I was sick for most of it. I had a bad chest infection that knocked me out for a while and I'm still trying to get over it! Being sick is the worst and especially the worst when you cannot do anything.

Gaming

Many just some announcements for this section and first off is that I did buy that new Nintendo Switch game I was mentioning in last months favourites. I will be posting about it tomorrow so please come back to the blog to check out what I got (it's rather exciting!). Second is that I will be starting a new Style Boutique challenge! This one is going to be a rather long one and the first post will kick off later this week. Here is a sneak peak at one of the challenge outfits!

Stationery

Received an order from Aliexpress this month which contained some great items! The whole point of this order was to purchase one of those cutters for washi tape. I've been seeing them on Instagram and I thought that would be useful. Same with the tweezers which were another Instagram recommendation. Originally I thought there was no way tweezers would make using stickers easier but omg it actually does. Definitely worth the purchase! I got some cute bear stickers and another Sumkkio Gurashi sticker book. Almost have all four in the set now! The pins and card holder are for work and work great! No other exciting stationery as I didn't go into town this month as I was still sick!

Music

Got some new K-Pop albums this month and I will make a post about those soon. It was exciting to get some albums as it feels like forever since I brought new ones! Been listening to a lot of music but nothing too exciting. Mainly been listening to Stay Together from the Kaiser Chiefs which the song Press Rewind stuck in my head for ages. Another two I've been listening to is Hits To The Head from Franz Ferdinand and dream world from dream. So many good songs on the latter album and I love all the Eurobeat covers.

Outfit Of The Day - Regretful Choices

Not sure how to explain this outfit and no idea what on earth I was thinking when I created it. It's quite bizarre, like a weird mixture of baby-doll and feminine. I feel it wouldn't be too bad if I hadn't of used the bolero style outer. If the outer had less frills on it, it would've matched better as it just it too opposite of a style to the rest of the outfit. Oh well we all have those dud outfits every now and then. I must've thought this looked amazing when I originally made it as this is an old set of screenshots I had saved for a blog post. The best part about this outfit though is the beautiful blue tones of the clothing items. This deep blue is gorgeous and blends in well with the backdrop.

Crayon Pop POP! POP! POP! - Mini Album Review

The last music review was one about Crayon Pop so I thought why not post another one from the best K-Pop group ever!?!? I do miss the older days of K-Pop when I was a Crayon Pop stan (still call myself one) and followed everything from the group. Crayon Pop TV was absolutely hilarious and I loved seeing all the adventure the girls would get up to. Let's take a look at one of the group's Japanese releases POP! POP! POP!

POP! POP! POP! is the debut Japanese release from Korean girl group Crayon Pop. It is a mini album and was released in November 2014. It is the first and only Japanese mini album from the group and is your typical Korean song repackage you often see groups release when they want to debut in Japan. It was released in one version and I brought mine from YesAsia many years ago. The mini album comes with the following contents:
  • CD - 8 track mini album
  • DVD - contains 5 MVs
  • Jewel case
  • Lyrics booklet
  • OBI

The album cover is very on brand for Crayon Pop featuring the girls in their famous Bar Bar Bar outfits. The girls are pulling some awesome poses whilst surrounded by bright graphics. The back cover has another image of the girls in another fun pose and a fair amount of text. So much text on the back of this album! I think they tried to shove all the DVD information on here. I do like this album design though as it matches the group concept and is quite colourful instead of boring.

SELFY COLLECTION - Colour Outfits Collection - Red

It has been a long time since I posted about SELFY COLLECTION: The Dream Fashion Stylist and have actually been playing the game recently. Since I finished the main storyline of the game and grinded like crazy until I unlocked all the items, the only thing really left to do is to make some cute outfits. Now I will be 100% honest and say the user interface of the game is the most unfriendly thing ever! It is impossible to search for items and look through your inventory. Nowhere near as good as Style Boutique and the search terms are terrible. I actually had to play the game in handheld mode and used the touch screen to navigate. When you have the switch in dock mode playing off the TV, you have to move at a snail pace to cycle through the items. Definitely one of the worst things of this game, that and the constant loading screens.

Anyway negative points aside, I decided to make up some outfits themed around the colour red. SELFY COLLECTION is a cute game that you can create these beautiful avatar-styled characters. Apart from clothing items, you can add fun background elements to the outfits. The red search term brought up quite a number of items and I put together a variety of looks. My favourite of these is definitely the Alice In Wonderland inspired outfit as I adore that story and the dress has such gorgeous details. I also quite like outfit number 4 with the little bunny friend.

Crayon Pop Single Album 어이 Uh-ee - Single Review

The numbering for this Crayon Pop is a tad confusing and it can be a bit complicated. Most sites list it as the third single in their discography whilst stores just list it as a single album. I think it is technically about their sixth single as 빠빠빠 Bar Bar Bar was their fourth then 꾸리스마스 Lonely Christmas was their fifth. I'm going to call it the 'Single Album' as that is what most sites and the album itself refers to it as. Let's take a look at this confusing thing!

어이 Uh-ee was released in April 2014 and was their follow up single to the smash hit 빠빠빠 Bar Bar Bar. It was released with only one version as most Crayon Pop albums are however you can find listings for a Taiwanese Edition that is exactly the same as this one (you can count the sticker on the front as a bonus I guess). I didn't actually buy this one myself as I received it as a lovely birthday present from a friend but I believe they brought it most likely from the Morning Glory store. This single album comes with the following:
  • CD - 2 track single
  • Hardback Sleeve
  • DVD Digipack
  • 30-page Photobook

As per usual, this album has the typical Crayon Pop craziness. The girls have taken inspiration from traditional Korean clothing for their concept outfits. I found this quote from Choa regarding the outfits - "While celebrating the New Year, the members took pictures in our Hanbok and we realized if the outfits could be altered slightly the would actually be quite comfortable to wear around all the time ... so that was our inspiration." Personally I love the outfits and they look comfortable enough to perform in. Sometimes when I watch performances of K-Pop groups, I think it must be hard to move in those restrictive or tiny clothing items.

Outfit Of The Day - Lively Blue

I've been feeling quite blue lately as I have been rather sick. Luckily I didn't have the virus and it was a chest infection. So I've been playing lots of 3DS and Nintendo Switch. It also gave me time to go back through some old Style Boutique photos I have yet to post on the blog. I found some more blue themed outfits and I thought I'd share one today! This look is quite cute and simple in style. It seems to fit the lively theme however I feel it could also fall under the girly label too. Has anyone else ever thought that the heart on this sleeved shirt is in a rather weird spot and quite large? I feel it would be better if it was smaller in size but I guess with how the items are designed for the game, the larger size would show up better.

Animal Crossing New Horizons Play Journal - Villagers Sitting Down

These are the last few screenshots in Animal Crossing New Horizons from 2020. Boy did I take a lot of screenshots back then and that was probably the only reason I brought a large SD card for my Switch! if only Style Boutique was on the Switch then I would've maxed out the card. First off we have this cute photo of my character in the game wearing a strawberry themed outfit. Even has a matching umbrella! I tend to wear this style of hat quite often in the game or sometimes I switch it out for the beret.

A few snaps of Pudge being adorable as per usual. Clearly the best villager in my opinion and I feel he isn't respected enough. Everyone always makes fun of him when they visit my town :( One day I visited his house and he commented on all the Nook Miles I had saved up. Must've been when I had over 100,000 as that's the most I've ever had in game. I just save them up for ages and never spend them until I waste them all on pointless villager hunts on the mystery islands. Second set of photos is of Pudge working out in the Resident Services Plaza whilst it is raining. Nice choice of the weather right there.

June Favourites

June was actually a fun month for me with lots of activities and goodies! I saw the new Minions Rise Of Gru movie the other night at the cinema and it was amazing! Been hyped for that movie for ages and it was great to finally get to see it. It was a bizarre experience as my co-worker had told me about people going to see Minions in suits which I thought was a joke. Then when we were in the cinema, it turned out to be true! There was a row of teenagers in suits who were cheering and interacting with the movie. I've never been to a screening like that ever and I found it rather weird.

First off I brought this adorable Pikachu Fujifilm Instax Mini Link printer! At first I was looking at getting one of the cameras as it has always been something I thought would be fun. But someone suggested to get the printer instead as it is better value. So I ended up finding this one quite cheap along with some pink film. I haven't tried connecting it to the Nintendo Switch yet but it's super easy to use. The one thing I don't like about it is how you have to use up an entire roll of film before you can take it out of the machine. Like I get why it's like that, I just would like to use different styles of film for different photos. I'm thinking about getting a thermal printer one day to use in my journals as you can print out anything with those and it would look amazing in my notebooks.

Stationery

Went to the city again and did some shopping! Last time I went I totally forgot to go to kikki.k so this time I made sure to remember! There was a few items on sale there and I picked up some random paper things and a bookmark. No photos as they are pretty boring and basic. I did however get some stuff from Daiso such as this washi tape and stickers. I didn't have these styles yet in my stationery collection and there was an ok range. The city store isn't as good as my local one but it's easier for me to visit now that I'm going to town monthly.

Gaming

I have actually been playing some games this month! Been playing a fair bit of Style Boutique as I will be posting a new challenge for the blog soon. It is still a work in progress and it will be a long one so keep an eye out for that. Need to figure out my free time schedule to blog but I might start posting it this month. Thinking about buying a new game soon for my Switch that I've been looking at for a little while. Will update in the future with how that one goes.

Music

Nothing much happening here besides I had to buy a new Kaiser Chiefs CD to replace one of mine that was skipping. No idea what is wrong with that album, like it just skips on two of the tracks. It is the greatest hits so I already had the songs but it was upsetting that it wouldn't work. Luckily I was able to get the replacement CD for 80 cents brand new!

ぴこぷり Pikopuri April - June 2016 Magazine - ガールズモード 3 Girls Mode 3

Recently I was in a Newsagency and was amazed at all the magazines still being printed. Back when I was a teenager, I remember always bugging my parents to get me the latest issue of Smash Hits or I'd save up for the Total Girl showbag at the Show. Crazy to think that's how we used to get all our information and dodgy ringtones off the back page for ridiculous amounts of money. So I thought I'd take a look at another ぴこぷり Pikopuri from my collection and this issue is the April to June 2016 one.

This issue is packed with content and I remember buying it for the K.K. Slider amiibo card. I still have him in my amiibo collection and it's quite a cool looking card! You also got a cute amiibo folder that features Animal Crossing on both sides. It holds a fair amount of amiibo cards but definitely not enough if you have a decent collection. My collection isn't even big and it won't all fit in there! There was the usual sticker sheet as well that ぴこぷり Pikopuri issues have and I love these stickers so much that I'm scared to use them :( I really should start using them but I just don't have anything special enough for them even though I have like 5 journals.
