The inspiration for today's blog post is that I haven't posted a music review in ages so that is what we are going for. I randomly picked an album in my blog backlog and it is the 2nd Mini Album from K-Pop group Kep1er!
DOUBLAST is the 2nd Mini Album from Korean girl group Kep1er and it was released on June 20th 2022. The mini was released in four versions: Lemon Blast and B1ue Blast with both having a photobook and jewel case format. I ordered the jewel case format from YesAsia who sent a random version and I ended up the B1ue Blast one. I did like the concept of the Lemon Blast version more however this one is still fun and fresh. The jewel case format of DOUBLAST comes with the following:- CD - 5 track mini album
- Jewel case
- 16 page photobook
- Photocard (Random 2 out of 18 types)
- Postcard (Random 1 out of 9 types)
I hadn't really heard anything from Kep1er when I brought this album and only brought it as I was wanting to pick up a cheap K-Pop release. This was the most interesting and was reasonably priced. My favourite track of the mini album is the title track Up! of course and it is a awesome upbeat song to listen to. I know it's been forever since the group released this but I really need to hear more of their stuff. I do know that they continued promotions (minus some members) after their contract from the survival show ended so it is cool that they stayed together and are still pursuing music. Here is the track listing for DOUBLAST:- Up!
- Le Voya9e
- Attention
- Good Night
- Rewind
For the card inclusions, I got a few different members including Yujin who I already had a photocard of from a CLC Japanese mini album. I was happy to get her as she is my favourite member! The other photocard I got was Hikaru and for the postcard I got Bahiyyih which is nice as I like her too! I was surprised at how many photocards you get for just a jewel case version! Larger albums sometimes only give you one! Maybe I got lucky with this release as it looks like their later ones have way more versions and photocards.
I wish more companies would do jewel case editions as they are a cheaper alternative for collectors and might be more cost effective to product. Nowadays I don't stan groups but if more groups did cheap standard CD editions, I would buy them as I like to discover new music and support girl groups. Overall this is a nice addition to my collection and I love the design concept. Very colourful and reminds me of 2000's fashion/aesthetics. This jewel case version I brought from YesAsia is no longer available from that particular store however you can easily find it at a range of other online K-Pop stores.
