May Favourites

The weather we have been experiencing during this last week of May has been very winter like. It has been raining quite heavy the last two days and one part of the city even got flooded. I went to town yesterday and luckily I got home before the bad storm hit. Anyway enough weather talk, let's get onto the favourites for the month of May!

Stationery

Thought I'd start with this topic as it seems to be all I spend my money on lately. There are no good sticker shops in the centre where I work so whenever I go to another shopping centre, it's always a treat to find them. There's a new chain called Mint My Desk here in Australia and it has some super cute stationery! Spent some time looking around the shop and I ended up getting this notepad which features review pages. Thought it would be a fun start to my notepaper collection for journaling. The MARU seals were from Daiso which I had actually been to a few days earlier. The second photos shows my first Daiso haul where I picked up some new things I hadn't seen there before. I did go to the Daiso in the city yesterday and their sticker section was lacking. Seems that the one closer to me is the better one.

Another random thing I got this month was this adorable Legally Blonde Pop Vinyl! I saw them for pre-order months ago and put my name down instantly. Usually I don't collect Pops but when I see one that is my style I always pick them up. Legally Blonde is one of my favourite movies so I just had to get this one! Some of my Pops I keep in the box however this one looks way better out of the box.

I Heart Revolution has brought out a new collaboration with Dr Seuss and I couldn't help myself when I saw it in Priceline. The stores here are only stocking a few products from the line so I only got the Oh! The Places You'll Go eyeshadow palette currently. I quite like Revolutions eyeshadows and this one is great! I tend to use the glitter pigments the most and they stay put for long days when fixed with primer. I have a few of the brands palettes now and I'm looking forward to the Powerpuff Girls one when it hits Priceline stores.

Gaming wise I still haven't been playing much in recent weeks. I've just kind of lost interest and there are other activities I like to spend my time on. Does anyone else experience that? Like you just grow out of something or get bored of it? I feel like happens to me with games every so often. If only the Nintendo Switch had more fashion style games, then I'd definitely be more interested. Most of the games posts on here will generally be backlog photos as I have a good selection of images to work through.

Music

Sad news with Japan Post increasing their shipping fees which means it makes it even more difficult to import from Japan for me now. The last two times I ordered stuff, the shipping was pretty rough and this has made it even more costly. I think from now on I'll be taking a hiatus from purchasing Japanese CD's due to cost. Might go back to purchasing Korean releases as they are easier for me to obtain. This isn't the end however as I will still be posting reviews of my collection on here! Hoping to get through a big chunk of the collection by the end of the year.

Outfit Of The Day - Another Girly Outfit

The title pretty much says it all for this look - it's a girly themed outfit! I feel I make this particular style the most and sometimes I think I haven't even made all the possible outfits available from Marzipan Sky! The inspiration for this outfit was the previous Style Boutique game Fashion Forward as I quite liked making outfits like this one in that game. The old balloon skirt and tee was always a classic combo. This style of skirt is a rather bizarre one however it works great with a variety of inners and tops. Loving the bright blue tones of the outfit and I've been super into this colour lately whilst on a search for an eyeshadow that perfectly matches it. There's a new collaboration coming out with Revolution Beauty with the Powerpuff Girls and one of eyeshadow palettes has this shade in it. I haven't found it at any Priceline stores just yet so hopefully one day it hits stores.

MAX MAXIMUM - Album Review

Have you ever discovered a group and become totally obsessed with their discography? Well that's me with the Japanese group MAX. One day I was searching for a Eurobeat song I had heard and came across the group. Instantly feel in love and needed their albums for my collection. One of the main ones I wanted to get was their first album MAXIMUM and it was a bit of work, but I finally got one earlier this year!

MAX MAXIMUM CD

MAXIMUM is first album from Japanese group MAX and it was released in December 1996. Wow that is a long time ago and that makes this album nearly 25 years old! Now with it being such an old album, it was a struggle to find one in great condition. There was plenty of listings for the album but I wanted one that included the OBI and wasn't too damaged. Luckily I found this one for a good price and snatched it up! There was two editions of this album; the CD and Promo Analog. The latter is a cool looking vinyl containing six tracks from the album. I've seen photos online and listings price it around 4000JPY. My copy of MAXIMUM came with the following contents:
  • CD - 13 track album
  • Jewel Case
  • Lyrics Booklet
  • OBI
  • Avex Promo Flyer
  • SUPER EURO FLASH ticket

The design of the album is very nineties but timeless. The front cover has the girls in suits with the MAX logo on the top half. The out-of-focus font kept throwing me off when I was searching through listings as it looks kind of scratched through the screen. The back cover has another image of the group wearing a very nineties get-up. Man I remember when this was the height of celebrity fashion. I had shoes like this and they were too big for me but I always wanted to wear them to parties. The track listing and production credits are listed on the back cover.

Animal Crossing New Horizons Play Journal - Villagers Staring At Furniture

Another round of Animal Crossing New Horizons screenshots because I seem to have an endless supply of them. These were taken around November 2020 during the Spring season which is one of my favourites in the game. I just love how green everything looks and the flowers look gorgeous. First off we have this adorable photo of Bill asleep by the goose sign. How cute is this?!?!? I was very lucky to get this photo and it has been one of my favourites take in the game.

My island is coming along nicely and there are more paths in place now. I'm slowly working on the decorations around the town and I spend way too much time calculating how flowers should be laid out. I like to have a mixture of colours and styles around with some areas having themes. Still working on this area just to the left of Resident Services. It took awhile to figure out the terraforming and I quite like this design where the cliff divides the area from the beach on the left side of the island. Second photo is of Pudge being adorable by his house.

Colour Outfits Collection - Grey Round 2!

A while back I posted a set of grey toned outfits as part of my Colour Outfits Collection and I finally remembered that I had taken an extra set of photos! I miss doing these colour challenges as it was fun to build an outfit around a specific colour. Does anyone else find grey a difficult colour to wear? I can only wear certain shades of it and it's more of a casual attire colour for me. Like I'll wear it at home more than I wear it out.

Overall I love all the outfits in this collection as I feel they cover a variety of looks and images. Every outfit feels unique and some I had to even stop to think what image they were because they were that nice! My favourites would be girly, bold, gothic, glam/flirty and eastern. The bold outfit in particular reminded me of the Josie & The Pussycats movie which I absolutely love! That movie is an underrated classic and it should be way more popular than it is. I quote it quite a lot and I saw a Instagram story that other day where someone saw a bumper sticker that said 'Dujour Means Seatbelts'. Thought that hilarious and I'd love to have that sticker! Anyway, here are all the outfits from the second Grey Colour Outfits Collection!

MOMOLAND The Best ~Korean Ver.~ Album Review - Limited CD+DVD Edition

Omg this review took forever to create because this album is the hardest thing to photograph! I've tried posting about this MOMOLAND CD multiple times since I got it but the photos always came out terrible. It's just the worst CD ever to take photos of and I think I finally got some decent photos to post. They are a combination of my Nikon camera and Oppo phone so hopefully we can see all the details! Let's take a look at MOMOLAND The Best ~Korean Ver.~

MOMOLAND The Best ~Korean Ver.~ is MOMOLAND's debut Japanese release and is basically a best album. It was released on February 28th 2018 and came in three editions: Regular CD Edition, Limited CD+DVD Edition and Tower Records Limited CD+DVD. Now this CD took a long time to find and purchase. I searched for a long time and was outbid in a few auctions. Eventually I found this copy of the Limited Edition in good condition and snapped it up. My copy came with the following contents:
  • CD - 10 track album
  • DVD - Contains 3 MV's & 3 Dance Versions
  • Jewel Case
  • Lyrics Booklet

The concept for this album is just the Freeze and Wonderful Love comebacks merged together as the photos are all from those promotions. Being an album released for debut in Japan, it is common to see companies reuse images from other comebacks. My idea on why this was done is because this album was released in Japan shortly after the group exploded with the song BBoom BBoom. So the with the success of the song, the company wanted to expand to Japan quickly and released this album about a month or two after BBoom BBoom came out. It would then take a few months for the group's debut Japanese single to be released. The easiest thing for the company to do was the just recycle photos rather than taking new ones (as the girls were super busy around this time).

April Favourites

Cannot believe April has come to an end, that month just seemed to go on forever! I feel like I didn't do much and then I feel like I did too much. It was super busy at work and hopefully will die down now. Honestly I'm not sure what to write in this month's favourites as I didn't recall much I did outside of work. I haven't been playing any video games at all as I've just lost interest currently. Maybe if my local Nintendo club starts back up, it might inspire me a bit. We had to put meetings on hiatus due to the pandemic and it's never started back up again. I do miss going into town to them as it was fun to check out all the niche stores and the local book chain as re-opened in a larger heritage building and I'm dying to check it out! Someday this month I might make the trip into town as I thinking I might need some buttons from a sewing store that is only in town.

I've been super into journaling during April and trying to do it everyday. Last month I posted about the new bullet journal I brought from Aliexpress and it is amazing! The quality of the paper is outstanding and I love how there is no bleed through. Well worth it and if I fill this one up quick, I'll get another one. I'm thinking of maybe trying a Hobonichi next year as I want to get more serious with this hobby but they are so expensive to import here. This week a large order from Aliexpress arrived which is where I buy most of my craft supplies. I seriously need to cut back on the stickers as I cannot close the box I store some of them in currently! This lot was just too cute and will be put to good use.

Music

Only one new CD this month as I'm trying to cut back my collection. But I've been looking for Britney Spears' Blackout album for years and never had much luck. Well I was at Salvo's yesterday and guess what? It was there! I couldn't believe it as I've never seen it anywhere and I've been looking in Op Shops for a few years now. Super excited as I used to own the album and somehow lost it one day. Nice addition to the collection and I think that might be one of the last Britney albums I need. Anyway, I'll end this month's favourites with some songs I've been enjoying lately. See you in May!
